It's the most wonderful time of the year again, and I don't mean Christmas or New Year's Eve. I'm talking about a week full of parties and dumb decisions. A whole week dedicated to giving 50 percent to school and 100 percent to your social life, syllabus Week. Syllabus Week only comes around twice a year, so to phrase it as Chanel Oberlin would, "Don't mess it up, idiots."
After a long break apart from all your college friends, it feel really nice to have everyone back together. Once everyone is moved in, it's time to crack open the bottles of champagne and cheers to another semester!
The first day of classes is always productive. So many books to be bought, syllabi to be printed, schedules to be finalized, and friends to catch up with...but mostly friends to catch up with.
If you're smart, you'll order all your books online being that syllabus week and finals week are the two times during the semester that the book store is actually crowded.
Class isn't totally unbearable yet because most teachers won't get to deep into material and will take the first day to introduce the course and go over assignments.
That means minimum academic responsibilities and maximum social responsibilities.
By Wednesday, you'll be struggling so hard because of all the syllabus week parties.
Even though it's only week one, don't fool yourself because you will see a ghost from semesters past you don't want to see. Maybe the boy you gave the wrong number too at the bar or the professor you gave a bad evaluation. The past always comes back to haunt you.
Since it's the beginning of the semester the meal plans will be reset. So if you don't already have a meal plan you can get a underclassmen to feed you!
Finally, syllabus weekend. The one weekend out of the whole semester where you can guilt free go out every night, and then top it off with boozy brunch on Sunday because there is absolutely no assignments to worry about yet. Might as well celebrate with mimosas.
Don't forget you look your best and make a great impression for the upcoming semester.
