12 Feelings At The End Of 'Silly' Week That Are All Too Real

In This Article:

Oh, syllabus week, a time to stress about homework that you may or may not need to do, walk miles for no reason, or even do nothing. The point is we all have been there. Not only is it the first weekend back from break but we're all so tired.

To sum it all up or whatever of a week this was, here are some typical feelings of syllabus week that are all too real:

1. Back Living With Other People

On winter break, you relax and do what you want. Have your own bed, own room where no one disturbs you. You realize your sleep at school is never going to be as restful as it will be at home. That's just it.

2. Getting Used To Campus Food...again

We all know campus food is never as good as mom's home-cooked meals. Getting back to eating strictly campus food is a large adjustment. Prepare for your stomach to be upset for the first week until things straighten out and you get used to your new semester schedule.

3. You're Tired In General

You get tired because syllabus week is enough in of itself. Whether you're tired of classes that you will end up taking for the entire semester, have no motivation, or stressing about the major you're applying to, it will be okay. Plus you realize again how much frustration and stress college causes.

4. Life Was So Peaceful On Break

No screaming and no slamming doors is a dream come true. Plus, there's no sleep interruption. Also, no stress of studying. What could be better?!?

5. You're Overwhelmed And Stressed

Each class seems more work than it actually is. Classes are overwhelming at first but as soon as you get used to the course load, the better.

6. New Year, New Sleep Schedule

That's right people, new year, new sleep schedule. This also means a new sleep schedule for your roommate too, which could be good or bad either way you look at it. Getting back into not having as much sleep for an entire semester is hard, especially if you're like me and laid around for three straight weeks over winter break.

7. Walking Everywhere Because You're Too Lazy To Catch The Bus

Laziness is real the first week of the semester. Everyone's trying to figure it out just as much as you are. Motivation for the semester is at an all-time low and you just don't feel like waiting for the bus. However, walking can be just as fast if not faster than taking the bus.

8. Read Your Syllabus And Read It Again

Reading every syllabus thoroughly and writing down which exams are cumulative and final exam day saves a lot of time down the road. As tempting as it is to do, don't start randomly flipping pages in your syllabus expecting to find information you missed. Go in having an intention of finding what you're looking for.

9. Go To Class!

You or your parents are paying a lot of money to go to class. Plus going to class proves you don't have to do everything on your own by constantly reading the textbook. You're also missing out on a lot of material you will need to know for tests.

10. Have Your Schedule With You At All Times

If you're like me and sometimes forget what time class starts weeks into the semester, keep your class schedule with you at all times! I feel keeping it with you on paper if more helpful thank keeping it on your phone. This way you're able to learn how to block out time more.

11. Those People Who Still Haven't Bought Textbooks

Talk about being even more stressful when you can't do an assignment because you don't have the textbook. Always have textbooks prior to starting a new semester. Not only will they be cheaper but ship faster.

12. All The Transfers

When transfers ask you where stuff is (awww).

Maybe after syllabus week, take a chill pill and sleep, catch up on television or homework. Because after a long, hard semester with only a week break, your body will thank you.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
