One of the best parts about being part of a student organization isn't just about getting new members, it's watching them become as passionate about the club as the existing members are.
For one of my clubs, we welcome new students every semester, and the more they participate, the more immersed they are in what we've created. When we're little, we're taught to share toys with our friends -- as I've grown older, I've also grown to love sharing experiences with other people -- especially this one.
By joining something you not only get something to do, you also get to meet so many new people that you might not have met had you not joined. Honestly, the more obscure a club is, the more variety there is in people. In my "Survivor"-based club we have everything from nursing majors to journalism to animal science. There are maybe two people I might have met had I not been a part of this.
This club is completely based on the people in it. If everyone wasn't excited for what we do, we'd be dead in the water. It makes me so happy to see everyone get so invested in this little niche we have going on.
As one of the people who has been here since the beginning, I can honestly say we know what we're doing -- of course, we've had our own growing pains over time, but we work together and figure it out. The fact that people want to join and those who do get just as excited about this as us reassures us that we're doing something right and we're leaving this organization in good hands when we're all gone.
So to all the newbies now and forever -- we're so glad to have you and we can't wait to see what you do with your time in this crazy organization we're all a part of.
