Surviving College Without My Bestfriend

Sometimes your paths don't merge like a perfect movie.

Surviving College Without My Bestfriend

Your whole life you plan for your future. You dream about your career, and traveling, and your wedding. But you have that awkward stage after high school where you are constantly battling the feeling of needing to have everything in life figured out, and running around with one hand over your eyes and one out in front of you for blinded guidance.

Then, you have this one person who you always turn to, the person who is your right hand, your rock when life gets too tough, your very best friend. You never really imagine life without her. She is in all the images that race through your mind, and is always standing right next to you in them.

Sometimes your paths don't merge like a perfect movie.

They go completely different directions, to different cities, colleges, countries. Suddenly here you are making memories with people who are great friends and you turn around and think, wow she would really have loved this. Or its 3 am and a stupid boy has been a jerk for way too long, and you really just need to rant and eat ice cream with the person who knows you best.

Early life and college is so hard when its not spent with your best friend. Learning brand new parts of a friendship that you've never had to explore. How to get over it when face time is just not an option. How it could be days before we talk, sometimes weeks when busy lifestyles get in the way. Simply learning to navigate our own lives without having that one person there that you once seen everyday.

But those catch up calls, and the sweet moment when you see each other again; that makes the wait worth it.

It is like no time has passed and we pick right up where left off, tell all the crazy stories of new friends and adventures. We laugh and reminisce. We create enough memories to hold us off until next time.

Although countless miles separate us, we grow up, we learn, we fail, we succeed. I will always be her best friend and no one can take that place.

And there is always those days where life just seems to not give in, and as soon as that free moment opens up a call is made. When no one else around you could possibly understand, amidst all the chaos of trying to find our places in the world, I know I can depend on her.

Early life and college is like constantly trying to keep your head above the water, and when shes not there sometimes its discouraging. But I know were both leading our lives to greater destinations.

I will always support and encourage her throughout life even from half a world away. No amount of distance or time could separate us, not really. Life will continually change but our friendship will remain the same.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
