It's graduation season -- which means you've probably already attended a friend's ceremony, or been invited to one. While it is a momentous and amazing event to take part in, there is no denying that sitting in the stands for hours waiting to finally congratulate your friend is no walk in the park. Commencement speakers impart their wisdom to the students and the audience, but can occasionally take their time to do so. Here are ten tips to help you survive your next graduation:
1. Bring snacks, and enough to share.
2. Have a designated ceremony buddy, whether you bring a friend or know someone in the family.
3. Bring something to do -- playing cards, coloring pages, play-doh, paper to play tic-tac-toe.
Basically, anything to pass the time, but not be obnoxious.
4. Charge your phone, and don't spend the ceremony playing games or taking BuzzFeed quizzes.
You'll regret it when pictures come.
5. Bring sunglasses, for shielding the sun or napping -- up to you.
6. Meet your graduate at a predetermined location, preferably closer to the parking lot.
7. Avoid sitting in traffic; be the first or one of the last to leave the location.
8. Dress according to the weather; there are nice outfits that are also practical.
9. Bring your lipstick/makeup to touch up before photo time.
10. Know the person that is taking your photos to ensure non-blurry snaps and the cute candids you've been waiting hours for!
Just remember that, at the end of the day, it's the 'Gram that counts.
