A Survival Guide for Celebrating Spring Break on Campus

For most college students, Spring Break is time for solely showing out and turning up. It’s a time for traveling, sunbathing and spending endless money (that you probably been saving all year) on hotel stays, car rentals and, of course, exotic drinks (and wild parties). Actually, it’s a time to rebel against classwork, homework and practically anything course-related for the sake of making memories and releasing stress that the semester can place on you. However, the expenses of most Spring Break trips are hard to meet when you’ve become a broke college student struggling to find income. Therefore, it is no surprise that some students end up staying on campus grounds during spring break. While this may sound way more dull than taking a spontaneous trip to across the border, fear not, there is still much exciting memories to be made while going absolutely nowhere.

1. Go nowhere.

Of course, in order for these following rules to apply, you must have nothing tremendous planned for Spring Break. Your Spring Break must consist of staying on campus (or a slim chance of returning home to a city that is typically not sunny and fun this time of the year). In other words, when asked by others what you are doing for Spring Break, your answer should make them slightly pity you into taking you with them.

2. Make sure you know at least one other person staying on campus (outcomes may be vary if you are left alone).

However, on the contrary, you will enjoy your time on campus. While finances may not have allowed you to have a memorable out-of-the-country experience, it is extremely important that you find one other person that you are close with that will be with you. This will make for an unforgettable adventure in itself.

3. Stock up on “beverages” for the snap!

Drinks. Drinks. Drinks! That’s what Spring Break is all about. Whether laying on a sandy beach or in bed, the right drinking beverage can lead to the best nights out.

4. Keep easily cooked meals in hand reach

After a night of blowing off stress and protesting homework, you will be hungry! Make sure that you either go grocery shopping prior, or there are plenty delivery options nearby. Cafeterias are typically closed during this time. Plan ahead!

5. Keep a bag of sleeping clothes (and a toothbrush).

Just like going on vacation, you never really know how your night will end. When going out with friends or visiting other friends, keep a bag of portable hygiene products and sleeping clothes. It will save you the trouble of rushing back to an empty dormitory. You want to spend as much time with any friends as you can at this point.

6. Explore new neighborhoods.

Being on campus during break is cause for traveling to museums, monuments, eateries and all around new places. Having class is no longer and excuse.

7. Visit family nearby (four hours away or less).

If you’re like me and traveling home is only a bus ride away, go home for a few days. Say hi to family and familiar territory. When you get annoyed of home, leave just as quickly as you came. You don’t have to go to Miami or Puerto Rico to travel (unless of course you’re already from there).

8. FaceTime everyone who has not traveled to an exotic location.

Make sure when FaceTiming friends you are only faceTiming those who are not on Spring Break or have only traveled back home. Warning: Do not FaceTime friends who are having the Spring Break of your dreams!

9. Stay away from watching your friend’s snap.

Also, do not watch the snap of those who are having the Spring Break of your dreams! To alleviate all chances, just watch your snap and no one else’s unless you know for sure they’re having a mediocre time too.

10. Make crazy enjoyable snaps of your own.

However, post about everything. Your beverages, your friend(s), eating lunch, traveling home, etc. Make each snap better than your last. You will somehow convince yourself (and others) that you are having so much fun.

11. Plan better for next year!

Just make sure that next year (or before college is over) you will do it big! You will someday live the Spring Break of everyone else’s dreams!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
