Supporting Your Local Arts
Hannah Jager

Have you ever attended a concert where a local band performed or visited an art exhibit for a local artist or even saw a show that a local production put on? Then you have supported your local arts. Supporting your local arts is much more important than most people realize. When you support your local arts you are supporting your neighbors, friends and family because chances are that they are involved in the local arts one way or another. Ever since I was little I have been working with local production companies. The people I have met and worked with have become my family. I have never seen a group of people work harder towards a goal than I have seen local artists working on a project. Local artists are not doing this because they are required to but because they love doing it.

Local artists are some of the most compassionate and caring people I have ever met. When they set their mind to something they do it whole heartedly. I have met some creative people who will make what they are picturing in their mind come to life on the stage, paper, or canvas. When you support your local arts and artists you are investing in the future of that company or person. You are ensuring that they will be able to impact and empower others for many years to come. When you support a local artists you are letting them know that what they do is just as important as what the people in Hollywood do. By supporting the local arts you are showing others that you support the local arts and that might cause them to go out and see something done locally. So, this weekend instead of going to the movies or that big concert go check out a local production company perform or have a local band blow you away with their sound.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
