It is rare to know musicians that had their whole career handed to them. As like the rest of the population, most of us have to work for where we want to go in life. Meaning, we all have to start somewhere.
Being able to support musicians from the start of their career could leave a huge impact in their life and maybe even yours. I'm here to explain why supporting your local music scene is not important to them and their life, but also yours.
1. Entertainment
More often than not, people are always trying to find something to do on the weekends that they haven't done before. Checking out your cities music scene will not only lead to an entertaining night, but it will also allow you to experience new music. Who knows, you might find your new favorite band.
2. Brings a community together
Nothing brings a more organic friendship together than having a similar taste in music. When people from all around the state are joined together in the same room jamming out, it brings out a sense of community. Local gigs allow you to meet new people and expand your friend group.
3. Support keeps the music alive
Your support to the local music scene means the world to them. Without an audience, the musicians have no reason to play. Sometimes there is a fee people have to pay in order to get in to see the performer. The majority of the time, half of the proceeds go to paying the the performer.
4. Makes a city more unique
Certain locations around the world stand out when you think about music. Places like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles are often known for their art and music scene. The reason for this is because they have a variety of music. Building a city that has different cultures flowing through it makes it one of kind.
So the next time you are bored on the weekend or need to find a place to take a date, check out your local music scene. Expand your horizon, and make a connection with your local bands. You being there means the world to them, and who knows, you might even discover the next star.
