10 Reasons Why I am Ready for Summer to End

Unlike most college students, I dread summertime and all of the monotonous activities associated with it. I hate swimming. I hate lying out by the pool. And most of all, I hate not being in school.

Call me a nerd or a masochist, but I love going to class and learning new things and meeting new people. My Pollyanna attitude toward the rigor of coursework may sound like a bunch of BS, but it is genuine. Here are 10 validations as to why summer needs to end.

  • Skin Care
  • Routine
  • Football Season
  • Fall Weather
  • Fall Apparel
  • Network Television
  • Pumpkin Spice Latte
  • Social Life
  • The Return of Friends
  • An Excuse to Start Fresh!

If I lie out by the Woodland’s pool one more time, I might as well sign myself up for a melanoma test. Lying out by the pool is not my specialty; especially since my skin’s version of a golden tan is red, blistered, blotchy skin and my ADHD makes leisure time as pleasurable as tooth removal.

When I am on a structured schedule outlined by classes, things actually get accomplished. My product of free days in the summer end and begin in a deep slumber.

GO VOLS GO VOLS GO!!!!!! Time to pull out the checkerboard overalls!

You know the spectacular feeling when there is a slight chill in the air and everything is pitch perfect?

Leggings, flannels and oversized scarves. Fall is my favorite time for lazy fashion! (Plus it gives me an excuse NOT to wear shorts… my legs are not my best asset if I am being honest.)

The end of summer means the beginning of a few of my favorite television shows Emma is The Dark One on Once Upon A Time, Mary Queen of Scotts is caught in yet another love triangle on Reign… I cannot wait!

Yes, I am basic enough to be excited about this. Out with the Strawberry Lemonade Refreshers, in with the PSL.

Summer is lacking in the majority of a college’s students. So, obviously, there is a lack in social activities in the summer. Students + City = Fun. This is a no brainer.

Friends that go home for the summer make their much wanted/needed return. They throw down their hometown to come back to K-Town.

Call me an epic cliché, but the end of summer means the beginning of Fall. There is something optimistic about getting a new planner for the school year. It is unblemished and not filled with due dates, reminder stickers and highlighted marks. It is so exciting to think of all the new opportunities this Fall will bring. Make this semester the best yet! Have a blast and go Vols!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
