My List Of Things I Will Do In Summer Of '17

I know I'm a freshman and I should still be super stoked about this first year of school, but I have been working my ass off and would enjoy a break, specifically the sweet summer rays. I think I can speak for most when I say that I think we all deserve that nice getaway to the beach with the warm sun in our eyes and big smiles on our faces. It's simple, we enjoy our lives more in the summer. Everything is happier, and better. Here's a list of things I want to do this summer, the summer of '17:

1. Get a job.

It's not like I haven't had jobs before, but I made a rule to myself not to work during the semesters. I would focus completely on schoolwork. Not only would this give me an excuse to not work, but it also gave me an excuse to study more. It's a win-win situation.

2. Check off at least 3 things on my bucket list.

I know this one might not make a big deal to some people, but you figure I'm in my physical prime right now. I will never be in better shape again in my life. The things on my bucket list that involve some sort of physical activity, I better get to it, because I do not have much time!

3. Maintain a healthy diet.

Now that I have basically started living on my own, I have really been trying to lead a healthy lifestyle. I think I am doing okay so far, but really who is to judge, am I right? Now that summer is coming, I want to make sure that I continue that healthy living into the warmer climate as well.

4.Spend more time in Nature.

I love nature, but i don't think that we all spend enough time in it. We take for granted what is right in front of us. We can't even see the beauty that was given to us. This summer, I want to shut off my phone and go on a hike, or read a book in the grass or something in nature. I have a really great app that i use finding things to do in nature. It's called Yonder. You just type in your location and then up pops state parks and bunch of other cool places that are near you that you can explore!

5. Kayaking with my brother.

My brother and I have kayak, and sometimes we like to take them to the local lake and spend the day exploring. Jake will fish, and I like to tan, and take pictures of the fish that he catches. I hope that we get to do this more this summer. I like spending quality time with him.

6. Carnival/Fair

Everything about carnivals screams summertime, and I love everything. from the greasy food to the questionable rides held by ropes, you name it, I'll do it! I love carnivals, and I have spent a lot of summer nights making memories with friends at them.

7.Concert.

I love everything about music! Concerts are a perfect way to spend your summertime as well! Grab a friend and some food, and head to concert and prepare yourself for a great time. I know that I already a couple concerts already lined up.

8.Music Festival.

I know music festivals are "trendy" right now, but you need to try one for yourself before you go shooting it down first. I went to one this past summer for the first time, and it was amazing. I loved everything about it. We camped there for a night, and spent the whole day jamming out to bands and eating amazing food. The atmosphere of a music festival is awesome because nobody gives a shit. I felt very free and natural. No one had any worries in the world. We were all just there for one reason, music.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
