Maybe this is just me and I’m sure some people think I’m crazy, but I am 110 percent done with summer. With the heat and the sweating and the allergies, and the $200 electricity bill from the A/C unit in my apartment, it’s all just a little bit too much. It would be one thing if it only ever got to around 80 degrees at the hottest, but we’ve been just chilling in 95 degree weather with humidity that is just suffocating (granted, that is coming from someone with asthma, but I know it’s not just me that has a hard time breathing in this weather). It only takes about 5 minutes for the sweat to start sliding down your cheek once you step outside.
I won’t deny there are definitely a lot of fun things to do when the weather is warm. Things like swimming, lake days, tubing, going to the beach, bike rides, camping, bonfires, just to name a few. And I am definitely all about enjoying those activities. But the one and only thing that turns me off from summer is the sweating. The only time I want to be sweating is when I am working out. And that’s it. I don’t need that when I walk 3 blocks from the grocery store to my apartment. I don’t need that immediately after I get out of the shower. I definitely don’t need that when I am trying to fall asleep. It is so much easier to warm yourself up when you are cold than it is to cool yourself off when you are too warm. You can always add more layers. It becomes a problem when you remove all the layers and you’re still too warm. Not to mention, I have a severe allergy to the pollen that floats around in the air. That stuff is my worst enemy. I’m nothing but red, blood-shot eyes and an itchy nose for an entire month. Fun stuff.
Fall is my season. I really can’t find anything wrong with fall. It is easily the most beautiful season. The leaves change and the colors are breathtaking. The weather is the perfect temperature. You can wear long sleeves and pants and be totally comfortable. Halloween and Thanksgiving are during the fall and who doesn’t love dressing up like a weirdo and stuffing their face with candy and turkey and stuffing and pie? No one. Fall is also a time that reminds me of family. It is nearing the end of the year, and, for my family, it is when we all have an excuse to come home and spend time together. All of my favorite holidays take place in the last 4 months of the year, and even though the weather does get a lot colder during Christmas time, I’d still take the spirit of Christmas over the dreadful sweating.
Basically, what you can take away from this is that I am currently sitting on a bus in August with an A/C that isn’t working and I’m annoyed by how hot it is in here. That is all.
