Summer As Told By Michael Scott
The Odyssey

Summer is a strange time. It is the time of trying to make money to support your crippling food addiction, trying to hang out with your friend(s) that live near you, missing the friends that live far away, and sleeping. Mostly sleeping. And eating. It is a time of change and adjustment, as evidenced by trying to survive the boredom that arises when your best friend goes to the beach for a week and you don't have anyone to watch "The Bachelorette" with. It is a time of new beginnings, such as the sunburn that you obtained from spending 15 minutes in the sun that you're hoping will eventually turn into a nice tan. In a word, summer is...fleeting. So go outside and do something.

1. When these are essentially your summer plans:

2. When you open the freezer at 10 a.m. and your mom gives you a judgmental look:

3. When you're on Tinder because you're bored and you keep coming across weird people that you went to high school with:

4. When you've been searching for weeks and you still don't have a summer job and you currently have negative $14 in your bank account because you keep buying stickers online that you don't need:

5. When you feel like your bod isn't "beach ready" but you think about all of the exercising and healthy eating you would have to do to get it there:

6. When you're shopping with your mom and you see someone you ~greatly dislike~ from high school and your mom says, "Oh my gosh let's go say hi!" really loudly:

7. When your best friend goes on vacation for like a week:

8. When you're at Starbucks and you order an iced caramel latte and you're waiting for them to call it out, and they say something that kind of sounds like your name and the drink on the counter kind of looks like yours so you go to grab it, but someone else gets there first, and it turns out it's their drink and they give you a mean look, and you feel like:

9. When there's a little pond near your house where you once saw a couple of turtles during the summer three years ago so you go to see them and they aren't there:

10. When you make casual plans to grab dinner with friends from school but you're getting way too excited because you rarely have plans:

11. When your friends ask you to hang out but you have work and while you're at work you see on Snapchat that they're all still hanging out:

12. When you tan for like an hour and then go hang out with your slightly paler friend:

13. When your parents expect you home at a certain time but you're so used to going to Cookout at midnight:

13. When you see someone cute at the pool but you're awkward so you kind of just stare at them until they notice you and then you quickly look away:

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
