Everyone is always excited for summer. Everybody loves summer. It is three months of freedom, but sometimes we think we run out of things to do. That is never the case. Here is a bucket list to do over the summer and feel free to add more!
1. DRIVE-IN MOVIE
Who doesn’t like a nice movie or even two movies to watch outside! Bring blankets and snacks and just relax with a group of friends in the bed of a truck.
2. PULL AN ALL-NIGHTER
Sleep is overrated sometimes. Make plans with some of your close friends and decide not to sleep that night. Stay up and watch movies, tell stories to each other, binge eat and drink wine (or soda), whichever you prefer and do whatever it takes to stay up all night long.
3. ROAD TRIP
Plan a road trip with some friends, it could be just a couple hours away or a whole day of driving. Maybe don’t even decide exactly where you guys are going, just stop when you hit a destination. Go to a gas station and buy a family size bag of Doritos and a bag of licorice. Buy a few Starbucks drinks to keep the car lively. Make a playlist and just jam out and drive.
4. RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
Help someone out, not because they need it, but because you want to make someone smile. It can be as simple as holding the door for someone, smiling, or telling them to have a wonderful day. When at Starbucks, buy for the person behind you, go volunteer at a homeless shelter or sit with someone at a restaurant who is sitting alone. Do anything that could make someone’s day brighter.
5. GO CAMPING
Pitch a tent and camp out with friends or family. Load up the car with sleeping bags, flashlights, bug spray, tennis shoes, (maybe even a swim suit), ingredients to make s’mores, hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon, pineapple, and whatever else is necessary, and camp out for the next couple of days. Sit by the fire with everyone telling ghost stories and laugh because life is wonderful. Fall asleep looking up at the stars, trying to determine which dipper is the little and which is the big. Have your alarm be the birds chirping as the sun is rising. Go on a nature walk and enjoy the beautiful Earth we all live on.
6. MAKE A NEW FRIEND
Everyone likes making friends. Go out of your comfort zone and introduce yourself to that person you see at the gym all the time or the person about your age that is always at your nanny kids' baseball games watching her little nanny kids too. You never know the most random encounter could turn into a lifelong friendship.
7. NO TECHNOLOGY FOR A DAY
Our world has come to rely on technology. Some people cannot even go a couple minutes without being on it. Designate a day where you are not on any piece of technology for a whole day. Go out and actually pay attention to the wonderful things we can do without it. Hang out with your friends and actually talk and listen to them, instead of texting or snapchatting the whole time. Be aware of your surroundings, and enjoy the little things in life.
There is so much to do no matter where you are for the summer. Be creative, and think outside the box for fun, or even new things to do over the summer with friends and family. You will be surprised at the amount of things you probably didn’t ever think of doing or the memories you will make doing them.
