A Successful Semester For Sororities At The University Of Cincinnati

The Greek community at the University of Cincinnati has been very busy lately. This past spring semester was filled with amazing events and fundraisers in the Greek community. I was able to interview a girl from each sorority on campus about events that happened this semester in their chapter. The University of Cincinnati's Greek life has made many impacts on their philanthropy and the community not only this semester, but the whole year.

1. Kappa Alpha Theta

Kappa Alpha Theta raised just under $1,000 during their famous grilled cheese sale. Theta also had their sisterhood spring treat, which consisted of a grill out at their sorority house. Recently, they had their senior send off and scholarship dinner. Overall, Theta reported they had a fabulous year, winning overall premier chapter and the highest GPA for the fall semester. Congrats, ladies!

2. Gamma Phi Beta

Gamma Phi Beta recently had their senior week to celebrate its graduating seniors. Gamma Phi had their spring formal at The Redmoor. Congrats to the ladies of Gamma Phi who raised their GPA to third highest out of all the sororities! For their sisterhood retreat this semester, Gamma Phi had a mystery dinner and painted pottery at The Pottery Place. Gamma Phi has their philanthropy event, Girls on the Run, coming up in May and are looking forward to cheering on the young girls and sisters who are running in the race.

3. Kappa Kappa Gamma

Kappa Kappa Gamma told me about all of the great things happening in their sorority. They recently went to an elementary school and read to third graders. They were also able to do crafts with them. Lauren, the member I spoke with said it was really fun and an awesome experience. Kappa also had their Parent's Day this semester. Lauren also said they had Keystone at their Parents Day, and that was her favorite part.

4. Delta Delta Delta

In Delta Delta Delta, they had their first annual March Madness this spring semester. They reported it was very successful, and they raised more than $4,000! Congrats to the women of Tri-Delt for such a successful fundraiser! For Mom's Day this semester, they went to the Candle Lab in Over-the Rhine. Tri-Delt had their spring formal at the Cincinnati Club and said it was a lot of fun.

5. Theta Phi Alpha

Theta Phi Alpha stayed busy this semester. They had their formal at Receptions in Western Hills. They also had their annual Theta Phi Bowl and raised more than $6,000 for The Dragonfly Foundation for Children's Hospital. Theta Phi also started a taco sale this semester and raised more than $500. Finally, they had a Mom's Day at their house where they did Cheers to Painting with their mothers. They had a Dad's Day, as well, where they went to a Cincinnati Red's game to enjoy their day!

6. Chi Omega

Chi Omega reported they had a fun date party this semester at Mount Adams Pavilion. Chi Omega also had their Chi O Karaoke, and it was a huge success. They recently had formal at the Newport Syndicate in Kentucky. Chi Omega made an amazing achievement this semester after they granted their third wish in a row for their philanthropy, Make-A-Wish. Congrats to the ladies of Chi Omega for all their hard work!

7. Pi Beta Phi

Pi Beta Phi recently had their formal at The Phoenix in downtown Cincinnati. They had their Pie-A-Pi-Phi event and their Pi Beta Phi Pizookie sale, both which were a great time and successful for their philanthropy, Read. Lead. Achieve! They also recently had a fun Mom's Day where the women were able to spend the day painting with their mothers in the new renovated Nippert Stadium!

8. Kappa Delta

Kappa Delta had a great semester, as well! Their formal was at Turfway Park in Kentucky, and they had a Parent's Day in Newport, Kentucky, as well. Kappa Delta also had their first-ever date party this semester at Mint in downtown Cincinnati. To conclude the semester, Kappa Delta raised 16 percent more than last year for their philanthropy, Prevent Child Abuse America.

9. Phi Mu

Phi Mu had formal at The Radisson this semester. They had a really cool theme, Arabian nights. Phi Mu also had their Miracle Week this semester and participated in the Cincinnati Dance Marathon to raise money for their philanthropy. Phi Mu also reported they had Dad's Day and went to a University of Cincinnati baseball game to enjoy their day. They also had a really fun date party that was jungle themed.

Congratulations to all the lovely ladies of each sorority on such a successful semester. I am looking forward to a great fall semester next year!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
