In a society focused on distracting forms of social media, "studyblrs" are increasing some students' motivation to study and decreasing pesky procrastination habits.
While most social media is used for sharing pictures, experiences and talking to friends from all over the world, a fairly new community within Tumblr is shaking up how high school and college kids are studying. These blogs are dedicated to sharing study or test-taking tips, organizational skills and even showcasing pen collections. Studyblrs are the new way of encouraging yourself to study and helping you to be excited to study.
The primary uses of a studyblr are for personal or group study motivation, keeping neat notes and inspiring others to do the same. These blogs span many categories, such as biology, economics, French and just about any other high school or college course you can think of. They use tags like #studyinspo #collegetips #studymotivation #organization and #studyblr to gather an audience. Studyblr blogs post original content, like pictures of their revision notes, study spaces, what's in their book bag and tips to survive studying, or they reblog content from the various Studyblr blogs.
The studyblr community is composed of a group of educationally motivated individuals that anyone can be a part of. From the blogs that I've come into contact with (due to having my own studyblr), most, if not all people behind the blogs are welcoming and excited to help out anyone who might be having trouble focusing on their school work. Inspiration flows from every #studyinspo tag, filled with advice on how to organize your study space, how to start a bullet journal and even tips about how to spice up your cafeteria food!
The Chrome extension, Momentum, is very popular among these blogs. Many bloggers pull this tab up when taking pictures of their study sessions to post on their studyblr blogs. It activates when you open a new tab, displaying the time and a relaxing nature photo in the background. The extension is fully customizable, so you can include a to-do list, showcase your area's temperature, or a "focus" for your day. Check it out if you're looking for simple way to motivate yourself!
There is nothing you have to own to start a studyblr blog, except a drive to exceed at your studies and a love for learning. These bloggers thrive on learning more and studying harder, and are always seeking to help others with their schoolwork. If you need some extra motivation as we dive into the new year, or just want to revamp your study habits, give studyblrs a look!
