If you go to Quinnipiac, you know the struggles of the QU caf. We all have those same immediate thoughts when we walk in and know that we are about to be faced with cafe food. We all miss real food when we are at college but the QU cafe is one of a kind.
1. One word: Chartwells
2. There is no hope and you might as well accept your food fate.
Seriously...it’s cafe food, you can never have high expectations for what you are about to eat.
3. You can only hope that it is not rush hour in the cafe…
“Rush hour” is the term we use for the times when classes get out around breakfast, lunch, or dinner and every QU student seems to have gotten hungry at the same time and has showed up to the cafe.
4. If it is...Good luck.
But really… Good luck. You will be fighting your way through
the cafe if it is rush hour.
5. The BYOB line…Sandwich line…pancake line…all lines everywhere!
There is almost always a line at one or all of these stations in the cafe. The average waiting time for food probably 10 minutes per station...if you are lucky.
6. Candy Bar? Nah, gotta watch the freshman 15.
That candy bar just always looks so good with its sour patch watermelon and Swedish fish.
7.Yogurt bar? Smoothie line? Sure but not on the weekends.
One of my personal favorites is the yogurt bar and smoothie station. However, they are weekday luxuries.
8. In fact, expect nothing on the weekends.
The caf on the weekends here at QU is slim pickings. Sunday morning pancakes are great...just remember that line you will be waiting in, and that it also doesn’t open until noon. But it will have to do because what other options do you really have?
9. Walking back and forth looking at “options”
Weekday or weekend you will always be doing laps around the cafe looking at your “options” for that meal. You may actually come across a really good option like the pasta station actually being open that day! You may also be faced with the usual let down of what to pick from.
10. Wondering how that line at Au Bon Pain is? Or maybe I’ll walk to the rat?
You have probably had this thought while wondering the caf...jk you definitely have had this thought almost every time.
11. Realizes you already chose the caf…
But you made your choice to go to the caf. Unless there is no line at ABP or you have enough time (and motivation) to walk to the rat then you will be sticking with the caf.
12. “Man I miss real food”
Bottom line. We all miss real food and look forward to it most when we go home.
