Big reveal is like the Christmas of the sorority year. You get gifts and clues as to who it could possibly be, and your excitement only grows more and more each day. You finally get your big, and couldn’t be happier for your new, lifelong big sis.
You think it’s all going to be cute Instagram pictures and family bonding, but you quickly realize it’s not. Sadly, you get really close, and even become best friends. Some may think of this as a good thing, but this new relationship can be a struggle.
1. She’s not afraid to call you out when you’re wrong.
If you’re in the wrong, she will be the first to let you know. Everyone else might sugarcoat it, but not your big. Sometimes she doesn't even have to say it. She just gives you the look.
2. You have a second mom whether you like it or not.
After your mom, your big is the first call that you make when you have big news. Or any news at all, really. Or if you just want to say hi. Big really does know best.
3. People confuse the two of you for each other.
After spending so much time together, you even start to look alike, so people just start mixing you up.
4. No one else can truly understand what you are saying half of the time.
“So yeah, like, yeah. It’s just, you know. But, it's whatever.”
5. You get all new enemies.
Whoever she doesn’t like, you don’t like; it’s called solidarity.
6. She’s always got the advice that you don't always want.
The “I can finish my paper tomorrow morning” excuse does not work on her. She knows you too well and knows that you are lying to yourself. She acts as the responsible friend and lets you know that you probably shouldn’t go out.
7. She doesn’t say I told you so.
After you go out anyway and die trying to finish your paper, she doesn’t say, “I told you so.” How rude is that? Just yell at me like a normal mom!
8. She stops you from going insane.
She sits back and listens to why you think you need a puppy, should change your major, should drop out of school, should die your hair and should become a vegetarian, even though she knows you will end up doing none of these things. She knows just how to handle your specific level of crazy.
9. She has the worst blackmail on you.
She’s like a screenshotting ninja when it comes to Snapchat. She's so good that you even forget what she has on you but you know that whatever it is, it's bad and it's just waiting to be posted.
10. She never leaves you alone.
You will never feel alone, because no matter where you are or when you need her, you know she'll be there for you.
