Strong Female Protagonists In Video Games

There have been a handful of complaints in the gaming industry that there are not enough female protagonists in video games. Perhaps some might argue the characters are not relatable enough. Or maybe that there simply aren't enough games with awesome female characters. I believe that the gaming industry has been making a huge stride towards diversity in video games in order to make it more enjoyable for all their consumers. So here's a list of some of my favorite female protagonists and the games they're in!

1. Lara Croft

Lara is kind of one of the most obvious choices, but I can't leave her out because she is also one of my favorites. After playing the most recent reboot games, I have realized how much of an awesome woman she really is. I learned a lot from her playing those games. You can learn more by checking out this video I put together about Lara on my YouTube channel, here.

2. Faith Connors

I'll be honest, I haven't played the first Mirror's Edge game, but I am definitely going to buy the second game! The first time I saw the trailer, I couldn't look away. I asked all my friends what the heck I just watched and researched everything I could about Faith. Holy cow, she's a cool lady! If you haven't already, check out the trailer or go by the game!

3. Max Caulfield

Life is Strange is one of the most powerful games I have ever played. If you haven't experienced it yet, you should. It's definitely worth every penny. I don't know what else to say with out ruining the story and I definitely don't want to do that!

4. Kait Diaz

If you watched E3 over the weekend, you probably saw some game play for Gears of War 4, including some awesome slicing attitude from Kait. She seems like she can hold her own and is incredibly strong willed. I look forward to getting this game come October 11, 2016.

5. ReCore Girl

Maybe I'm missing some sort of news flash, and unless I missed it during the E3 stream, her name was never announced! Nonetheless, I am extremely excited to meet this lady and her robot friends and embark on this awesome adventure on September 13, 2016.

6. Commander Shepard

Of course, you have always been able to pick either a female or a male character and customize him/her 100% to your preference. But that doesn't change the fact that Commander Shepard is one of the strongest female characters out there and one of my favorites to this day.

There were so many more games announced at E3 this past weekend that are worth taking a look at that are to coming out at the end of this year! I'm really excited about the future of the gaming industry and the strides artists and story tellers are taking to include strong and independent women in their games.

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Here are some things that you could do while being invisible, because being invisible can benefit your social life too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
