Striving To Be Elle Woods

Crushed faster than you can say broken nail. Elle was dumped by the love of her life. The person she thought she would be with for the rest of her life. Even though Elle did a lot of her beginning accomplishments because she wanted to win Warner back, she eventually decided her accomplishments were for herself. I feel like we can learn a lot from Elle Woods. Sometimes our biggest crashes and burns are our biggest opportunities to rise to the occasion. So I’m gonna let you finish but Elle Woods had the greatest comeback of all time and we can learn a lot from her.

Warner literally dropped her like a hot potato when she thought that very night he was going to ask her to marry him. We have all been there, those moments when you feel like the relationship is going so well when in reality he feels very differently. Upset is an understatement. Like Elle, we lay in bed and watch crappy TV shows for a while, until our friends say enough is enough. We also go through a period like Elle where we try to win back the “love of our lives”. Although Elle may have tried to get into Harvard to win Warner back she did it on her own and eventually she wakes up and realizes how much she has accomplished on her own.

Like Elle, we need to wake up and realize how much we accomplish on our own without someone else. Now we may not have gotten into Harvard Law school (if you have, snaps for you), but we all have accomplished something extremely important to us. So when someone tells you that you can’t do something or that you should have backups, be as confident as Elle saying that she doesn’t need backups and that she is going to Harvard Law. Be like Elle, channel your inner Elle, she did not skip all of the keg parties for you to slack off.

It is not all success on the first shot. Even Elle got kicked out of her first law school class because she wasn’t prepared. Everything happens for a reason. Every crash and burn can lead you to a rise. If she wouldn’t have gotten kicked out she would never have met her new friend. And then the worst possible crash happens . He has a new girlfriend. You have finally have found out that he has a new girlfriend, or like Elle, you find out he has a new Fiancé. Now you really don’t know if you want to cry or go get a manicure and pedicure. So you choose both. You are at the lowest of lows and you feel like there is no way to rise to the occasion.

You may stumble along the way but eventually you’re going to realize that you aren’t seeking revenge anymore but rather all of your accomplishments are for yourself. Every A on a test, every earned internship and every case won is for yourself. Eventually you will wake up and realize that your comeback is for you and you alone. Once you look back at how far and how much you’ve accomplished you will realize you don’t need someone, you want someone to be with you. Our downfall is thinking we need a man, however like Elle Woods, you can accomplish whatever you put your mind to.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
