Everyone deals with stress and anxiety daily. There are daily stresses of paying bills, buying groceries, budgeting, going to school, etc. With those stresses comes the anxiety of dealing with all of them with a cool, calm and collected attitude. So what should you do in the event all of your stress comes down on your head at once and you suddenly feel like there is no way out?
The first thing to remember is to breathe. Close your eyes, take a deep breath in and then let it all out. This will get the blood flowing to your brain and you'll be able to think more clearly. While it feels like everything is so heavy and you're getting crushed under the weight, it helps to just breathe.
The second thing to remember is it's okay to cry. Crying releases tension and actually makes you feel better. I know it might seem like there is no end to the dark tunnel. But believe me when i say there is a bright world outside on the other end. You just have to keep walking. Do not give up yet!
The third thing to remember is that you have the power. You can control how the situations go. You control how you want to proceed with everything you have to do. My best advice for this is to make a list of everything you have to do and then as you complete each task, cross it off and you'll feel the weight of anxiety, lift off of your shoulders. (It really works!)
The fourth thing to remember is you are not alone. Call your mom or dad. Call your sister or brother. Talk to your best friends. Let them know that you are really stressed out and they can help ease the stress and anxiety, just by talking you through it. This is very important because feeling like you are alone can have other effects on your mental state that can be long-term. And let's be honest, you'll be even more stressed out after that.
The fifth, and final, thing to remember is that you are stronger than stress. You are a champion over stress. You have the ability to kick stress out of your life just by taking control. YOU have that power. Don't feel like stress is going to win or that you have no power against stress. In reality, you control stress.
I have had really tough weeks. Weeks where i would come home and cry and feel like i couldn't get anything done because there was too much to do and not enough time. But with the help of my support system and reminding myself that I control my situation, I was able to overcome my stress and I know you can too!
