I can see your frustration on why you do not believe pets are the same as children. However, I disagree with you. You are right that not all parents of children can call themselves true parents. This is the same with fur babies. No, I am not a parent to any human child, however, I do consider myself a fur baby parent. Most of my animals my mother and I have saved. Some we even had to bottle feed. They were so young and close to death when we found a few. Yes it is completely different, nobody ever said its the exact same. It is different when your child comes out of you I can imagine. But what about those parents who adopt. The love is all the same.
1. Daycare
You mentioned that can not just drop your child off at some kid hotel to be pampered and fed while you skip town for the weekend. This is true in a way, however in both cases child and fur baby you can hire a babysitter/ pet sitter. People do this all the time when they have work, business trip, weddings..etc.
2. Adoption
You mentioned that you can not write a post on Facebook with the description of all of her positive attributes to look for her a new home because she does not fit your new apartment. Parents are always putting their baby up for adoption. That is what makes a parent a genuinely good parent. When they believe they are not fit enough to take care of their child. Just because you see people freely with no thought giving away their pet does not mean they are a true fur baby parents.
3. Birth Control
You mentioned that you can not have her fixed. This is true, however, you can have her put on birth control when she hits puberty. That is your choice not all fur baby parents get their pets fixed.
4. Play time
You mentioned you can not just keep her in the yard. You are right but you can just leave her in a different room and allow her to play. When children reach a certain age you do that. Animals and children are a little alike in that aspect. When they are both young if things are quite you need to worry, because they are probably doing something they should not be.
I do not believe one parenthood is above the other. I respect all mothers no matter how they are. Women have enough pressure from society to be a certain way. We are told on a daily basis how we are supposed to look, talk, act, and feel. We are told what age we are supposed to be married by and have babies by. Some women do not have the luxury of being able to give birth to their own child and adopting may be far too expensive for them so they resort to fur babies. Your article was kind of offensive to not just me and that is ok with me I can agree to disagree. However, you should have put a little more thought on other women. We all know it is not truly the same, but for us no matter the situation the feelings are the same you can see it in their eyes and actions.
