Being in college, you meet a lot of people. Your dating pool went from the five cute boys who somewhat had a brain in your high school, to an entire college of cute boys, who can use their brains when they want to (I mean they had to get in somehow).

Let's say you meet a guy, and you're starting to really like him. He likes you, too, so genuinely the definition of this is "talking." Since when did taking your time to get to know someone, and making sure you were ready to jump into a relationship with them, become labeled?

What does "talking" even mean? "Talking" is putting a label on someone who you don't want to put a label on yet, because we all know, once it's "Facebook official" there is no going back. I cannot even begin to tell you how much this has ruined expectations for what to want in a relationship now. Boys don't even take girls out on dates anymore. Some of them may text or call first, but that is on a good day.

So, girls, stop letting guys lower your expectations. If you are unsure about your feelings, or a situation, just ask your self this: "Would I be comfortable with my daughter going through this with a boy?" If not, let him go. Make him chase you, let him text you first.

Guys, for the love of all things holy, get it together. If you are into a girl, let her know it. None of your "friends" would care about how you act as long as they knew that you really wanted her. Stop acting too good to text first -- it's disrespectful, rude and honestly shows us how little you care. If you would not be OK with someone treating your baby girl like that one day, show respect and change it. Be someone who she can be proud of, go buy her $3 bouquets and you will make her whole day. I know that some girls demand a lot, and want you to buy her lots of things and are very materialistic, but some of us just want time with you. Ask her to go on study dates in the library, or pick out a movie and make dinner (she won't care what you make, she will be impressed either way). Just give her your time, be there for her, text her first, chase her and I promise she'll be worth it.
