But He Didn't Mean To Rape Her...

'Why couldn't you just keep your knees together?' -Federal Court Judge, Robin Camp

'... Rape on campuses isn't always because people are rapists.' -Leslie Rasmussem, childhood friend of Brock Turner

'...That is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20 plus years of life.' -Dan Turner, Brock Turner's father

It's 2016. Did you hear me? IT IS THE YEAR 2016. Ask me what our nations biggest issues are. Go head, ask me. It's the fact that we are trying to determine what punishment an adult who has committed sexual assault or rape should me. Don't believe me? Try me.

In 2016 the United States of America has some how decided that all an adult man has to do is say he is sorry and drop a fake tear to get away with RAPE. Parents are more interested in trying to prove how much of a good kid he was 10-15 years ago or how good his grades are or how important his future is, than standing behind the fact that what their child did was wrong and against the law. Young woman are now trying to figure out how to move on with their lives that are forever changed knowing the man that took their innocence away from them is being protected by the court system when no one was there to protect them the night they were forced to have sex with 'such a sweet & respectful young man.'

Explain to me this: the United States court system feels that because a 20 something year old man was a high school scholar athlete, never missed a day of school, has a pearly white smile, got a full ride athletic scholarship & doesn't really talk to girls is enough or a reason for why he wouldn't do well in jail for committing a FELONY simply because he was sorry. Go ahead and explain to my why this is okay. I'll wait...

Unfortunately there are many cases nationwide that that have the same outcome of the Brock Turner case. Young woman are being forced to live their lives as if nothing ever happened after their attacker got a 'slap on the wrist' punishment for what they did. Some woman are even being told that their actions are enough justification for why a man even did what he did to begin with. This is so ass backwards it's insane.

In 2016 our society is so messed up but it is our generations duty to stand up and make the change. It is our friends and peers that our victims of people like Brock Turner or are even the ones committing the crimes like him. It is our duty to stop what is happening for our future generations to come and teach them that this is not the okay way to deal with things. We need less Brock Turner's in our world and more Simone Biles or Ryan Hreljac or Katie Stagliano.

He might not have been planning to rape her but he did and now it is time for him to deal with the consequences... The real way.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
