Think back to when you were a child. What were your dreams and your goals? I bet you wanted to grow up to be something amazing, didn’t you? We all wanted to grow up to become something special. Maybe you didn’t want to be a doctor or a lawyer, but you probably had your heart set on something. We all had big expectations for what we wanted to do in life. Compare those dreams with what you are doing with your life now. Did you do what you always wanted? What happened to those dreams? Did you achieve them? Most people would probably say no. Unfortunately, there are very few people who actually follow their dreams and end up doing what they love. Society has knocked you down. Something has happened to take away that confidence of achieving that goal.
As children, we never had a care in the world. Children have such free spirits because they have yet to encounter what the weight of the world will bring to them. They are so easy going and stress free. Children wake up everyday and live life in the simplest form. That is why we were unstoppable when we were children. We didn’t understand the challenges we would face that would try to hold us back in life. We didn’t know the world would be against us in every way trying to prevent us from reaching our dreams. We never knew we would expected to act or be a certain way.
Back then, we all had leadership skills buried deep inside of us. We were born with them. We weren’t afraid to be our own person. We had every hope of following our dreams. We could completely be ourselves and could care less what anyone thought. As we have gotten older, the world has taught us we can’t be ourselves. The world wants us to be a certain way, and if we aren’t, then we aren’t good enough. We won’t fit in. This hasn’t only happened with our careers but also with our personal lives.
Everything has to be perfect. Society expects so much of us that it is difficult to truly be ourselves. How did that happen and why? Somewhere along the way of growing up, we learned to stop being ourselves. We are expected to stick with the current trends. We get stared at and talked about if we where something out of the norm from society’s standards. We are afraid to show our true colors because we are afraid of judgement. We are afraid of rejection, but what if we weren’t afraid? What if we still had that same carefree mentality of a sweet child? What if we chose to chase after our dreams and truly become ourselves? What if that same carefree soul was born inside of each and everyone of us again. My, oh my, what a different world it would be.
Isn’t it amazing how many people are in this world? Just stop and think about it, seriously. There are so many people in this world and no two are the exact same. Even identical twins have their differences. Think about how many combinations there are of people. It is incredible to think that we all have the same eyes, ears, nose and mouth, yet we all look so different. There are billions of combinations. If we are like that with our looks, have you ever considered that we are also that way with our personalities? Sure, we are all going to have similarities, but we are also going to be very different. We have grown into a world that expects too much out of us. Stop trying to be what everyone else wants you to be. There is a certain norm society wants us to be, but what if we can train our minds to think back to how it was before society ruined us? It’s time to be you!
It is not too late to start over. Please, don’t let the world influence you negatively. Be your own person. Be a leader. Don’t be a follower. Don’t be afraid. You may have the power to change the world, but you will never know unless you try. You have all the tools you need already. The mind is a powerful thing. It can do more than you think and it is simply amazing. If you stop being so afraid, maybe everyone else will too.
