What happened to the pure essence of individual uniqueness and growth? Strength comes in the silence of ones triumph, not in the shout of one's need for approval. We all have goals, inspirations, and even fears to accomplish or overcome. Yet, if we are always looking outward on our journey, we begin lacking sincerity when it comes to encompassing the internal adventure awakening from within.
Progress should not be used as a platform to display or compare. Instead it should be a passion-driven force that can be experienced as it blossoms from the human spirit. Our society tends to dwell in vain, counteracting this growth into destruction - Who can be stronger, who can be more beautiful, who can be more successful?
In our society, accomplishments seem to air on the side of superficiality when shared, especially when it comes to social media. There is a negativity or even distasteful sense of pride that rests underneath the surface of showing the world an accomplishment or goal reached. But this is not always the case, and if we begin to pay closer attention to the rhetoric we use in order to share with the world what life has manifested through individual hard work and dedication, then there will be less dread to scroll through Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
Social media is where the good and the bad within our society begin and end. When it comes to comparison, we can either transform the vibe of such platforms into inspiring testaments to the beauty of life or even the honesty of heartbreaking obstacles, rather than ego-driven shouts into the void of superficiality. What we post, what we display, and what we choose to share should come from our authentic self. And with this proclaimed authenticity, it will change the way we progress, while dropping the very notion of comparison.
In order to fully embark on transformation, we must allow our attention to fall inward. When we compare, we merely readjust our focus and energy away from the path that lies ahead of us. Our goals, our needs and our desires stem from what our individual hearts communicate to us throughout life, and that is a beautiful thing! In the end, there is nothing wrong with being proud of our accomplishments, or even sharing the very essence of a dream-turned-reality with others, as long as how we portray such moments stem from a place of positive humility.
