Stop Being Offended By Everything

I don’t care what anyone says, the USA is the greatest country in the world. Of course, we cannot overlook the problems we have in our society. The problem I’m going to address right now is the fact that since about 2009, the year our great leader Barack Obama was inaugurated, we as a society have become more and more--for a lack of a better term--soft. This is just ridiculous. We have the strongest military in the world. Our servicemen and women are literally the best. It is such a shame that they have to come home to a bunch of groups complaining about Target selling a shirt called “Trophy Wife” on it. It’s time we pulled up our big boy/girl pants again. How are we supposed to keep being the best if we whine about the stupidest things?

Steven Fry, a fantastic British actor once said, “It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so [freaking] what."

Remember when the “keyboard warriors” on Facebook decided to boycott Chick-fil-A because the owner supported traditional marriage? First off, who cares what someone believes. He wasn’t a lawmaker. He wasn’t going to pass a law to ban all the LGBT(insert letter here) people. That boycott completely backfired and CFA’s sales skyrocketed for like two years. This showed we as a society still have a bit of a backbone. However, things have gotten so much more ridiculous.

Last week, the Alphi Phi chapter at Alabama came under fire because they were too beautiful and white. First, of course a sorority at Alabama is going to be majority white; that's who rushes at Alabama. Second, why are we offended by beautiful women? Don't be so jealous.

It’s time for the silent majority to silence that loud minority who are “butt hurt” about everything. Sure, it’s okay to have feelings. If someone told me I was stupid it would hurt my feelings (for like two seconds) but I’m not going to start a petition to have the word "stupid" banned. This is the same country that is back-to-back World War champions right? We didn't beat the Axis of Evil by being soft. We beat them because we are strong as a nation. All this bickering over stupid things has weakened us.

I wrote an article about Donald Trump a couple weeks ago. One of the main reasons why Donald Trump is leading the polls by such a wide margin is because he does not give one flip about the PC police. Clearly that says something about the silent majority right now.

People are taking advantage of the fact that we do live in the USA and not a country like North Korea. Look, there are starving children in our own country. Why can't we just focus all our energy being offended about someone's beliefs toward the more pressing issues? I guarantee these groups that are offended by everything give very little if anything toward charity. If you believe waffles are the best breakfast food, cool. Don't be offended by someone else saying that pancakes are better. That offends me.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

Who could be a better friend than your own sister?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective. The following aren’t foolproof tips and may not apply to you, but I was able to find success with them (hope you do too!)
