Why I Still Wish My Life Was Like A Mary-Kate And Ashley Movie

Even if I'm already 20 and the movies are about as old as I am.

Why I Still Wish My Life Was Like A Mary-Kate And Ashley Movie

Sometimes the stress of everyday life can really get to you. No matter how much you may love your job or how fun school is, it becomes overwhelming at times. But even though my life was at least ten times simpler when the Olsen twins debuted all of their original movies, I still wanted to live the carefree and exhilarating life of Mary-Kate and Ashley and their varied characters. And now especially, I really want to. Not only did they go on the coolest adventures any seven-year-old could possibly imagine, they had great advice and the best style. Even though their outfit choices may be frowned upon in the fashionable world we live in today, their clothes were all the rage then, and who cares about what you're wearing if you get to do every single thing the Olsens did. They lived out your dreams for you and we all got to live vicariously through the screen.

To start from the very beginning, we have to give proper recognition it deserves to the entire “You’re Invited” series of movies. We got to go to every party the Olsen twins threw, marvel in all the fun they had with their friends at all of the coolest destinations you wish you could go to all by yourself just like they did and sing along to the super catchy songs. And just to jog your memory, here are all the original “You’re Invited” movies they had: a sleepover party, a Hawaiian beach party, a birthday party, a Christmas party, a mall party, a ballet party, a camp out party, a costume party, a fashion party and a school dance party.

So essentially, the twins took their own submarine to Hawaii just to bring their friends to the beach for the day, because the Jersey Shore or the California Coast clearly wouldn’t cut it. If you’re having trouble remembering this, just think of the song “Sand Glorious Sand,” it goes a little something like “sand, sand, glorious sand, you can squish it through your toes, you can stick it in your hands, grass may be greener, snow may be grand, but we’re just crazy about sand.” (Talk about a dedicated former Mary-Kate and Ashley fan for remembering that.)

MK and A also go to the New York City Ballet with their crew to take ballet classes and then perform on stage. This one also features a memorable tune that’ll stay with you for days on end: “practice, practice, practice, if at first you don’t succeed, don’t give up just keep on trying ’til you get up to speed.” That is some serious inspiration going on. And clearly in their first ten years of life they did more cool and exciting things than I have in my 20, hence why even past my Olsen twin obsession days I still wish my life was like their movies.

Moving on, Mary-Kate and Ashley grew up a little and took their travels across the globe. Completely by themselves, they ventured to Paris, Australia, London, the Bahamas and Rome. So if my life was like the Olsen’s I wouldn’t even have to go abroad for a semester of college because I would’ve done it all before I reached high school. They’ve been on a reality TV show and gone to the Olympics, so is there really anything they haven’t done?

I wish I could go back in time and live my childhood exactly like Mary-Kate and Ashley but at least I enjoyed their adventures from my own couch.

Also in my search, I’ve just learned that they have an album too, including great hits like “Brother for sale, only 50 cents” (sorry if you sing that for a few days now.)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
