Step By Step: How To Channel Alexa Chung

My latest celebrity obsession has been the lovely Alexa Chung. Don't know who Alexa Chung is? Let me tell you. She's a British fashion model and Vogue fashion contributor, but she's more than just her high position in the fashion world. She seems to be the definition of #goals, all around (apologies for using #goals in an article). So if you're looking for a new celebrity inspiration this spring, here's how to channel the modern classic that is Alexa Chung.

Step 1: Get a good haircut

Alexa's hair is basically the definition of frame the face. Is it the bangs? Or the beach inspired waves? Maybe the perfect below the shoulder length? A combination of all three? Either way, she never fails in the haircut department and finding the perfect look for her. Something we can all learn from, what looks good on someone else may not necessarily look good on you and vice versa. Find what fits your face shape best and you will be on your way to the hair envy status of Alexa Chung in no time.

Step 2: Wear whatever the heck you want (and work it)

Denim on corduroy. Denim on khaki. Heck, denim on denim. All the combinations one could possibly not want to imagine. Name it, Alexa Chung has probably done it, while looking amazing every single time. She's fearless in the way she dresses, and there is something important to take away from that. It's not the clothes that make you stand out, it's the way you wear them.

Step 3: Date a bad boy

Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys, the British rock band (who you should totally check out if you have not already) is the quintessential bad boy. Then you have Alexa Chung, the edgy sweetheart and together, you have an unstoppable combination. Seriously, the most beautiful couple ever. Who can resist a little excitement in their life? Go for the cute bad boy, Alexa did.

Step 4: Break up with said bad boy

Unfortunately the cute bad boy thing can only last so long.

After four years, the couple split and since then, Alexa has had a few short flings here and there, but for the most part seems to be doing her own thing. More power to you Alexa.

Step 5: Keep it simple

What is it about Alexa Chung that seems so effortless? I've concluded it's all in the makeup. She never overpowers her features with excessive eye makeup or an unnatural contour look. At most, red lips and a clean cat eye seems to be Alexa's makeup go-to. The take away here is, the cliché, less is more.

Step 6: Travel. A lot.

As a model, fashion contributor and TV host, Alexa Chung has been presented with a lot of opportunities to travel the world (and look incredibly stylish while doing it). We can't all be world famous fashion model on our way to PFW every year, but we can find a way to make travel happen for us. So travel, a lot. And to keep with our trend of Alexa inspiration here is an article from a few years ago where Alexa talks all about her travel routine.

Step 7: Say no to trends and yes to you

This goes back a little to Step 2, but I feel it can be applied to many different things (not just clothes). What makes Alexa Chung so fascinating is her sense of realness. In the way she presents herself to the world. She stands out, not because she tries to, but because she embraces herself and does what she wants to do. So say no to the status-quo and go wear denim on denim!

Or don't.

That's the beauty of it, you get to choose.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
