It's no lie that a lot of us flat out suck at being people sometimes. We make mistakes, hurt people's feelings, and procrastinate. The only good thing about being a chronically not perfect person is the fact that we all have our faults. Some of us are just better at staying positive than others. So my dear friends here is a step-by-step guide on how to become a better human being. If you follow these simple steps, you'll only experience good results.

1. Actually listen to others when they're talking to you.

Yeah I know, how many times have we heard that one right? Well, clearly not enough because so many of us do more talking than we do listening. It's so easy to start thinking about everything we have to do today, or tomorrow, or next week when someone is trying to have a conversation with us. If the person you're talking to has to continually repeat themselves, you either need to get your hearing checked or you need to focus on retaining what they're trying to tell you.

2. Put down your phone.

Ahhh technology, gotta love it right? The industry that controls everyone's lives is what's drawing the biggest distance between actual relationships. Everyone knows that constantly being on your phone is rude, yet we do it anyways. I will definitely admit that I'm guilty of this. However, there's absolutely a time and place to be on your phone, and a time to not be on your phone. If you spend more time talking to people through your phone than in person, try your best to change that.

3. Take others' thoughts seriously.

We live in a world where everyone always thinks they're right, especially right now due to the upcoming election. Whether it be on Facebook or face to face conversation, let's not forget that being respectful will never go out of fashion. Too many people argue over the smallest things. No matter what you believe in, just take the time to actually consider everyone else's opinions.

4. Don't be afraid to compliment others.

Our society is full of people who are afraid to admit someone else is doing something good. It can actually be fun to complement and learn from others. Embrace other people's awesomeness and you'll only increase your own.

Now, I'm not trying to be bossy and force all of you to be a better person. In fact, you're all probably already really great people who do all of the things I've listed above. At the end of the day, it's just easier to be someone that people enjoy being around. Be nice, helpful, and friendly and you're on the right track to becoming a better person just like the rest of us.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
