A new semester has started and you've made it through the first week. Congratulations! But, if you're still feeling a little frazzled, this long weekend is the perfect time to get organized so you can continue to succeed. Check out these tips below and best of luck with your semester!

Use your planner. You bought that lovely floral or black and white booklet at Staples for a reason. So please utilize it by writing down your assignments, classes, and other daily to-do's. You can even make it fun by color coding with pens or highlighting important notes.

Keep track of the time. You can still do this successfully even if you don't own a watch. Simply schedule in study time or chores with your phone using an alarm or the Reminders app. If you don't feel like doing that, at least take note of the time you start something and when it'll end (or when it does end). That way you can plan ahead if needed with certain courses that may take 30 minutes versus 2 hours of work.

Your phone can actually help you. I already mentioned the Reminders app, but there are other apps you can use to your advantage. Write little notes in the Notes app, or download some study helpers like Dictionary.com or Google Drive to keep up with words or other documents.

Prioritize, then plan from there. If you have ten thousand things to do, make a list and determine what is the most important or the item that needs to be done, like now. For example, that term paper that's due in a week can be second or third on your list as opposed to your math problems that are due tomorrow, you know? Continue to make lists as the assignments pile up, and you'll feel accomplished after checking items off that list.

Keep calm and remember to relax. If it becomes too much, just take a few deep breaths and do something relaxing, like watching an episode of Netflix or calling a friend. Whatever you need to, be sure to take care of yourself -- the work will take care of itself too, I promise.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
