Summer is halfway over, and the temperatures seem to keep rising. We should all try to keep ourselves very hydrated, especially in the summer heat. It is extremely important to keep drinking water whether you are playing a sport, traveling, or just getting that summer tan.

Keeping yourself hydrated is vital for your heart health, and it is also very good for the rest of your body. For example, your skin will look a lot healthier. Water is best to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. Here are some tips to keep yourself hydrated!

1. Keep a bottle of water with you whenever you can throughout the day. Having a water bottle can really help because you can fill it up whenever it gets empty!

2. If you are playing any type of sport, make sure you have plenty of water before, during, and after you are done. Keeping yourself hydrated throughout the process can help you improve and keep you focused!

3. Sometimes, people just do not like the taste that water has. So try adding a lemon to it! It will improve the taste, and you will hydrate yourself!

4. This may seem like a weird tip, but when you are feeling a little bit hungry, drink some water. Sometimes when you feel hungry, you may just be thirsty.

5. If you have trouble remembering to drink water, make a schedule! I thought this was a little crazy at first, but on my water bottle, I would put lines and how much water I wanted to have consumed by a certain time. It was really helpful and kept me well-hydrated throughout my day!

When your body is not well-hydrated, you may feel a sense of dizziness, dry mouth, headache, extreme thirst, or confusion. You should never wait until you are feeling any of those symptoms of dehydration to drink some water. Once, I really did not take notice of any of these and fainted while I was at work.

Speaking of work, remember to take a water break if you need to. Most places will allow you to go take a few minutes to drink some water so you feel hydrated. It is important because it can be a safety issue should you faint while working.

Many people have been told that drinking 6-8 glasses of water everyday is an ample amount of water to consume, but in reality, it all depends on the individual. Some people may consume more fruit than others; some may consume more caffeine than others. It all depends on the diet of the individual.

The summer is not the only time when you should be thinking about keeping yourself hydrated. You should be keeping yourself well-hydrated year round. It is easier to get dehydrated in the summer because of the heat and people being more active because of the nice weather, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be hydrating yourself during the other times of year as well.
