5 Ways To Stay Healthy While Traveling

1. Pack snacks

Packing snacks and planning ahead can spare you unnecessary calories. If you skip meals, your metabolism will slow down and you will feel much hungrier later in the day. If you're on a road trip or going on a plane, throw a snack in your bag! It can be something as easy as a cereal bar or a Ziplock bag full of fruit.

2. Don't drink all of your calories

It is easy to overindulge with milkshakes, fancy coffees, or other sugary drinks. These calories can add up without you even realizing it.

3. Remember to drink water

Particularly while traveling or on vacation, it is easy to forget this simple healthy habit. Plan ahead and bring a water bottle on your trip as a reminder to stay hydrated!

4. Check online menus

Many restaurants now offer menus online that detail calories and other nutrition facts. Even when going out to eat, you can make an informed decision to stay healthy.

5. Indulge in moderation!

Even if you are adamant on a healthy lifestyle, it's important to indulge every once in a while. If you are on vacation for a week, you could decide to have one "treat" every day. Whether you want a blended coffee drink in the morning or a dessert with dinner, just remember portion control.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
