How To Stay Calm During Finals Week

Finals week seems to have appeared more quickly than ever before. It's as if the four months prior have been a breeze and now it's smooth sailing from here on out. That may be the case for some who are lucky enough to glide through their class without a stressful final.

For the rest of us, however, we'll be having a more difficult time. Studying months worth of material, buying supplies for projects, and working with people you haven't had a conversation with the entire semester. Being a college student for two years has allowed me to piece together some helpful tips to get through finals with little to no stress.

1. Eat and sleep normally.

While binging loads of material sitting without moving until you memorize it might seem like a brilliant idea, it's important to function how you would on any given day. Eat three meals a day (or however many meals you usually eat) and have snacks readily available. Make sure to sleep at least seven hours to ensure you're fully functional. You may think you can minimal sleep and be fine, but that won't be the case when your brain wants to crash on the day of your final.

2. Allow for socialization.

Don't hole yourself up in your room all day wondering why it's so hard to concentrate. Give yourself time with friends and family. Go out to eat, take a walk, or just sit and talk. Take your mind off of studying for a little while to allow your brain time to rest. You'll feel refreshed and ready to go when you begin studying again.

3. Treat yourself.

Studying isn't fun without incentives. Create stopping points as you go along and reward yourself when you reach each one. Go get yourself a latte or a baked good. Go shopping at your favorite store. Go get food from your favorite place. Once you've established positive reinforcement, you'll be able to retain information easily.

It's important to maintain your sanity throughout the next week. It may prove to be difficult, but just remember that you'll make it through. You may have tips of your own that help you achieve your goals. It's okay if you don't get the best grade or have the best project. All that matters is you tried your best.

Good luck on finals everyone!

Pros and Cons Of The Neolithic Revolution

Was the First Agricultural Revolution really that great?

Men gather food on the cusp of the Neolithic Revolution
Justin LaBerge/ Fotor

The Neolithic Revolution was a groundbreaking event that happened at around 10000 B.C., when the earliest humans learned how to plant seeds and learned rudimentary horticulture, as well as how to domesticate animals. It was a huge stepping stone for the early humans, for it started the transition from a hunting-gathering society to an urban, agricultural society and shaped the course for the rest of human history. While it is a widely accepted fact that the Neolithic Revolution was a monumental step, and a great thing that happened in history, an opinion has started to grow among historians that the Neolithic Revolution might have actually been a mistake.

Here are some reasons why some think it was beneficial, and why some think it was a mistake.

10 Reasons To Visit Cleveland

Cleveland's great for the whole family – These are my favorite reasons to visit.

I am a world traveler. I have been to three different continents, traveled to over 20 states in the United States and at least six countries. I lived in New Jersey for seven and a half years and visited New York City frequently. I'm not saying this to brag, but I am simply saying this to prove that I have traveled quite a bit in my 19 years of life, and while I am no travel expert, I can say that without a doubt, Cleveland, Ohio is a wonderful city to travel to and visit. Maybe I'm biased because I've lived in a suburb of Cleveland (or what I claim to be a suburb of Cleveland) for over ten years now. However, I have seen many beautiful places in my lifetime, and while the weather is not the warmest, nor my favorite thing about the city of Cleveland, there are many other things that Cleveland can offer to tourists.

From 3 To 89, Ages Referenced In Taylor Swift Songs

Are you at one of the ages mentioned in Taylor Swift's songs?

Before Taylor Swift's transition from a country/pop sweetheart to a crazed vengeful victim, I was a huge fan of hers. I've been listening to her music for as long as I can remember.

Over the years, as an observant T Swift fan, I've noticed her penchant for mentioning ages in her songs. Maybe she does this so she can look back on these songs and remember how old she was when she had these experiences. Or maybe she does it so her fans have another level to relate to her on. For at least my past seven birthdays, I've checked to see if Taylor Swift mentioned my new age in one of her songs.

This is just a quick response to a post I saw that basically shamed other people for how they choose to deal with their mental health.
