Start Living Young, Wild and Free

Live life to the fullest because it only happens once.

All too often you’ll find people are constantly telling you what not to do. I would like to give you a different perspective and instead of telling you what you should stop doing I'm going to recommend things you should start doing to hopefully help you live your life to the fullest. I am going to tell you why you need to start living young, wild, and free. You won’t stay young forever so appreciate this time and experience as much as you can.

You aren't going to please everyone

Embrace this fact and rather than moping around or spending your time trying to please everybody else, you need to realize there is really only one person that you truly need to worry about, and that person is YOU. Stay true to yourself and you will end up incredibly happy. Rather than trying to constantly please other people just focus on yourself and live in the moments you're given, but most importantly, spend this time with the people who love you for who you are. Those are the people that are the most significant.

Face your fears with confidence

Each and every one of us is afraid of something. Does it do any good to run away from your fears or try to avoid them the rest of your life? No, face them head on. Facing your fears or doing the things that you never thought were possible might not only help you grow, but it may even help you learn a little bit more about yourself. Who knows, maybe you'll even end up with a new hobby that you fall in love with.

Focus on the present

There really isn't anything you can do about the past except learn from it and move on. In reality, there isn't anything you can do about your future either, because you really have no control over many of the things that come to you. All you can do is focus on the present and make yourself the best that you can be and enjoy the moment. Always think positively and do what you can to make yourself happy. Replace every negative thought with a positive one. I think most of us have heard the phrase, “don’t count the days, make the days count.”

Think positive and have a short-term mind

You can make yourself or you can break yourself. The mind is a powerful but amazing thing. When you fill it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change as the power of positive thinking does wonders for the mind. If you think positive long enough you will become a happier person, but the mind can also do some really damaging things if you let it. Your mind can destroy you if you dwell on the past and think negatively all the time. Leave the past where it belongs, in the past, and stop overthinking. Instead, think about everything good that you currently have in your life right now and live young, wild and free without a care in the world.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
