Starbucks Red Cup Season Is Back… With A New Spin

It is everyone’s favorite time of the year at Starbucks, aka red cup season.

Starbucks Red Cup Season Is Back… With A New Spin

I thought I was impatient, but apparently not as much as Starbucks. They brought back their holiday drink menu just three hours after Halloween ended #savage.

In order to generate excitement during the holiday season, every year Starbucks reveals a new design for its red holiday cups. Personally, I love the red cup season. It is a simple reminder that Christmas is right around the corner. It also means Peppermint Mocha galore, yum!

However, last year’s red holiday cups stirred up a bit of controversy. The cups were plain red, with no indication of Christmas on the cups. Starbucks decided to take a more minimal approach instead of the usual decorative images such as Christmas trees and snowflakes as they have done for past holidays.

Christians, especially, took this to heart and generalized that Starbucks removed Christmas from their cups simply because they hate Jesus. The main goal was to embrace simplicity and be more inclusive; but, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

This year, Starbucks has big plans and word on the street is they are adding a new color to the mix: green. This is a limited-edition green cup until the official release, which is pretty cool if I must say so myself. The actual season cups have already arrived in stores with each box marked “NO PEEKING until November 10.”

The design on the limited edition cup is intended to bring people together, for it features a “mosaic of more than a hundred people drawn in one continuous stroke,” drawn by artist Shogo Ota.

“The green cup and the design represent the connections Starbucks has as a community with its partners (employees) and customers… Starbucks wanted to create a symbol of unity as a reminder of our shared values, and the need to be good to each other,” Starbucks CEO, Howard Schultz stated.

Considering everything that is going on in our diverse world today, I think this is very fitting. I applaud you, Starbucks. Well done.

Stay tuned for Nov. 10 when the cups are released because hey, seasonal flavors are back! (insert dancing girl emoji).

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
