We forget about the little things in life.

Stand On Top Of New York City

Have you ever had the feeling where you just want to be successful and on top of the world? You just want to be able to look at the city you're from and feel good about yourself? Well, have you ever stood over a thousand feet above ground looking down at one of the greatest and biggest cities - that is the city that never sleeps - NYC!

I've always wanted to know how it felt to be "on top of the world," but I never actually knew until I started becoming a tourist myself of my own city. Being able to go to the One World Observatory and Empire State Building, I was able to see the whole city, forget that, I mean world, with a whole new perspective. At the time before going up to see the view, there were a whole bunch of everyday issues that I had that came with the package of life. As soon as I stepped foot in these buildings, I was amazed at how much I missed of the city, despite living here all my life. I've neglected the beauty and nature of the city with the busy city streets.

Empire State Building:

One World Observatory:

Standing 1,050 feet above the ground is the 86 floor of the Empire State Building. Here you are standing basically on top of the city, looking down upon it. Even higher is the One World Observatory standing at 1,250 feet! You've seen the skyscrapers alone in each part of the city, but here it is all together. It's so breathtaking that you start to ask yourself how you never saw such a thing in this city. We take for granted what's in front of us, and at this very moment, you seem to just forget all your troubles. Standing where you are looking at the city from day to night, you are too astounded by the view and feeling of just being on top of the world for these few moments. It is this moment that everything that seemed to matter in your world just disappeared.

You're in a new world. So the next time you ever feel like you want this feeling or just a place to relax your mind, think of the little things that you tend to take for granted even though it is right in front of you. Whether it is NYC, any other view or just the simple things in life, don't forget about them. Because it is this that is capable of making you feel on top of the world with no worries or fear!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
