It's that time of year again. What is supposed to be the best time of the year turns worrisome. Though it felt like it never would, the semester has ended. No more papers, studying, or test-taking. Finally. Now it's time to go home, snuggle up with your dog, and fly through seasons of "Grey's Anatomy,"and maybe even earn some money working your high school job. Except you can't fully relax until at least a week and half in. Until you find out what the professors you dealt with all semester really thought about you. It's that time of the year when you find out where you stand and how you were ranked. It's that time of year that final grades come out, and there's a lot that goes into discovering them. The following is a glimpse into these anxiety-ridden moments between finishing your last final and logging into your MyMarist account to find out how you did.
1. Walking out of your last final like:
2. Resisting the urge to check iLearn that evening.
3. Trying to relax and hang out with friends, but you can't stop thinking about what you might have gotten.
4. Succumbing to the compulsion to check iLearn.
5. Possibly finding out a grade. If it's good, you relax because this could help the rest of your grades. If it's bad, your hope may have dwindled a bit, but you haven't given up completely.
6. Emailing your teachers to politely ask how you did. They most likely don't answer.
7. Trying to keep your cool until grades are posted officially on MyMarist.
8. The day has come. You check in the morning just to see if maybe they were posted early. You're disappointed.
9. Your alarm for 4:55 p.m. goes off. You login to MyMarist to prep for checking your grades.
10. You refresh the page as soon as the clock strikes 5 p.m. The spinning wheel that signifies the page is loading takes forever and begins to drive you crazy.
11. After about 16 refreshes and angrily tapping your phone, the page finally loads. Frustration is at an all-time high.
12. If it's good, you'll log out and move on with your holiday festivities, happy as a clam.
13. If it's bad, you'll start calculating what grades you need to get next semester in order to graduate on time. Then you'll log out, and if your parents ask, you'll keep telling them the grades were delayed until they forget and stop asking.
14. Realizing the decisions you made this past semester probably weren't your best.
15. You'll promise to try your absolute hardest next semester and hope for the very best.
