Stages Of Drunk

Tequila, beer, vodka, rum, wine …oh my!

Stages Of Drunk

The thoughts of all college students Thursday through Sunday are whether to party or stay in to Netflix and chill. We rarely hold our ground and we give in and go out, which sometimes we hungover-ly regret and other times we are satisfied we made the right decision.

Our thoughts before drinking are: 1. Did I eat today? 2. Did I eat enough? 3. Eh, I’ll be fine.

The next step is deciding if we want to be sophisticated and drink a bottle of wine or be wild and drink a bottle of whiskey. We flash back to our previous stages of drunkenness as we open each bottle and get a whiff of its intoxicating scent.

But how do you choose what to drink? You could stick to the cliché theory “beer before liquor never been sicker; liquor before beer, you’re in the clear,” or you could say “screw it, let’s mix.” Decisions, decisions.

You’re in luck. We have the stages of drunkenness for tequila, rum, beer, vodka, and wine to help you strategically plan your course of action.

First up, Tequila, otherwise known as Te-kill-ya

There is no better way to describe tequila than, 1 tequila, 2 tequila, 3 tequila, floor.

Stage one:

I don’t want to do this.

Stage two:

The warming sensation.

Stage three:

Where the heck are the limes?

Stage four:

Hold my (fill in the blank).

Stage five:

Clothes fall off.

Stage six:

Floor.

Next up, Rum

Stage one:

Walking in like…

Stage two:

Walking out like…

We got your brewski (beer):

Stage one:

Asking for a beer.

Stage two:

Bloated.

Stage three:

Am I drunk yet? Probably not.

Bring on the Vodka:

Stage one:

Where’s my chaser?

Stage two:

I love vodka. I love it so much.

Stage three:

Shots! Shots! Shots!

Stage four:

Dancing.

Stage five:

I can totally drink more.

Stage six:

Get. Me. Water. Now.

Saving the best drunk for last...Wine!

Stage one:

I'll just have one glass. Does a bottle count as a glass?

Stage two:

Talkative.

Stage three:

Emotions.

Stage four:

Bring out the camera for.....pictures!

Stage five:

Compliments.

Stage six:

Stalking your ex...and maybe (definitely) their new girlfriend.

Stage seven:

Food splurge.

Now the choice is yours. Drink responsibly and choose wisely. Cheers!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
