I've never appreciated a $50 pay check as much as I do now that I'm in college.
1. You move in to school with all of the money you saved over summer, feeling on top of the world.
Little do you know, it'll never be enough.
2. After a couple weekends of going to the bar you ask yourself, "Did I really need that third Mahoney's bowl?"
When in reality, you'll never really need more than one...especially at $12 a pop. Having a good time gets expensive, real fast. What would bars do without us?
3. You get to the point in the semester where you realize you can't keep ordering pizza, but you're literally starving. So, Ramen Noodles it is.
You may even start to regret all of those late night take out orders but then again, who regrets pizza. The thing about college is that when people joke about living off ramen, they aren’t kidding. If the dining hall is closed, ramen is your only choice.
4. Rewashing plastic utensils becomes part of your daily routine.
You'll taste mac and cheese but you're eating chicken. Most people won't agree with this, but, hey, you do what you gotta do. Even reusing paper plates may cross your mind at this point. #College
5. You've started shopping clearance at the grocery store. Is this what rock bottom looks like?
Bacon is never a bad idea, but when the sign says "Buy one get two free" one may question "whats wrong with it." Also, sign up for those reward cards. Literally every dollar counts.
6. You may or may not have "borrowed" a few things from the dining hall.
Taking those leftover sandwich slices becomes first nature, and filling cups of condiments for later isn't stealing, it's improvising. No regrets.
7. When you finally have money again, it feels a little like this...
Fabulous. It literally feels like you won the lottery. You then somehow end up at Starbucks ordering a Trenta thinking, "I deserve this" (Or, maybe that's just me...)
Every college student goes through the real life struggles of "being on your own" and this is only the beginning.
