The warm weather is fast approaching with the spring and summer seasons, everyone wants to soak up the sun and enjoy their time away from school and work. So while the semester is winding down, here are some fun spring and summer date ideas you can do with your friends or your significant other.

1. Have a picnic

This one is really easy and cheap! Personally, I haven't been on a picnic in years but I feel like it would be a fun date for the spring or summer. All you have to do is grab a blanket, a basket, and some good food and you're ready to go. But make sure you watch out for ants and all the other little critters who want to join in on your lunch too.

2. Go to the drive-in

If you are lucky enough to have one of these old treasures around you, I highly suggest going. I love filling my car with a bunch of blankets and snacks and watching a series of new movies outside in the fresh air.My boyfriend and I did this last year for our nine-month anniversary and he absolutely loved it! Ours is set up so you get to watch three movies in a row for the price of one, but I don't I've ever made it to the third movie, considering the first one starts at 7:30.

3. Mini golf

I haven't gone mini golfing in years, and personally, I'm not that great at it. But it is defiantly a fun spring or summer activity to do with a group of friends or on a date, even if you don't have much skill for the game like me.

4. Go on a hike

This one is one of my favorites, I discovered paddle boarding about three years ago when a company came out to our lake and I've done it every summer since. I've done yoga, fitness classes and sunset and moonlight tours on them and everyone I know who has done it with me has loved it too.

5. Have a movie marathon

Movie nights are honestly the best date nights! You literally get to be in sweatpants and a tee shirt and eat junk food while watching a movie with your significant other. My boyfriend and I personally prefer finding a show on Netflix and binge-watching them until they are through. That way we can watch a couple episodes every night!

6. Go to a sporting event

No matter where you live, there is more than likely a college, minor league, or pro sporting team around you. Going to a baseball game or other sporting event is fun, but especially in the summer when its nice out and you get to enjoy the game and the weather. For me, I live in a town where we have a college, and a couple of minor league sporting teams but, I'm also only two hours away from pro football, baseball, and soccer so those are easily accessible as well.

7. Go to free summer concerts or events

More than likely where ever you live, there will be many outdoor summer events going on and usually, they are free! I highly suggest taking advantage of these, even if they don't sound the most exciting they still can be fun and relaxing. Plus you are getting to spend a few hours of your day outside and enjoying the summer weather while it lasts.

8. Go paddle boarding

This one is one of my favorites, I discovered paddle boarding about three years ago when a company came out to our lake and I've done it every summer since. I've done yoga, fitness classes and sunset and moonlight tours on them and everyone I know who has done it with me has loved it too.

9. Go to the zoo

Even at 19 I still think going to the zoo is fun. You get to walk around, look at cute animals from all around the world and enjoy being out in the sun and outside all at the same time. Whats not to love?

10. Spend time with family

Lastly, even at 19 and going to college two hours away I spend a lot more time with my mom and my boyfriends family than most other people my age. Family is important and personally, I enjoy the time I spend with my mom and like the fact that my boyfriend and I are close to each other's families.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
