You're going to make it

We are starting to hit the peak of mental breakdowns and stress crying. Fret not, Spring Break is just around the corner. (You may even be on Spring Break right now.) If you have made it this far, then congratulations on not dropping out yet. I know it's hard and I know you have had some hard times this semester, but you're going to make it, I promise.

Since Christmas break, I am sure you have worried extensively over your future and what it is going to be like and who you are going to be. You might have switched you major, causing you more stress than what you need. No, but seriously, don't worry about it. According to the University of LaVerne, on average, a student will change their major three times. So chill out, dude. Even if you've changed your major more than that, you're still going to graduate. You'll be fine.

Maybe you haven't switched your major but you're still stressed out something crazy with your workload. Trying to balance homework, a social life, a job, and your mental health all at once can be overwhelming. Again, you're going to be fine. Try to prioritize. You don't need to go out drinking with your friends the entire weekend, that also doesn't mean you need to be cooped up in your room all weekend doing homework. Try to space your stuff out over the weeks so you don't feel bombarded come Sunday night.

The fact of the matter is, you are either on Spring Break now, or you are about to be. Take this time to enjoy life a little. If you're traveling to Florida or wherever, please be safe (Also be mindful of the effect you have on the local life there. Do not litter, it's disgusting and hurtful not only to the environment but to the little critters that live out that way too. I mean don't litter anywhere, but particularly do not litter where you are a guest at.) Take a deep breath and remember that you deserve this. You deserve some time off from your hectic school life. You deserve to sleep in a little and not worry about your 8am.

You also know that Spring break means that the end of the year is right around the corner. Y'all are in the home stretch and then it's summer. You'll be free for a couple of months. (Unless you take summer courses, in which case I applaud you on your ambition and dedication.) After your rendezvous with alcohol poisoning this week, you only have a couple more weeks left until you can flirt with it all summer. It'll be great. You just have to make it that far. (Which I know you will. You're smart, I can just tell.)

If you're worried that Spring Break is just a band aid fix, that you may never graduate college (or high school.) That you're going to be stuck living in your parent's basement the rest of your life, working some shitty job at the local grocery store. Don't worry. Yeah, it's going to suck for the next couple years while you muddle through it. It is going to take some hard work to move out on your own. You might have to work two shitty jobs that the local grocery store for a spell to afford it. But you will make it. One day you will be financially stable, successful, and happy. One day you will be content with your life and wonder what it was you were so worried about in the first place. It doesn't have to be like this forever. William Ernest Henley wrote "I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul." So bitch, get ready to steer this ship wherever it is you want to go, cause I believe in you, captain!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
