After another dreadful cold front and snowfall, I am looking forward to Spring Break more than ever before. Anybody else? I don't think anyone could disagree that basking in the sun on a beach in Mexico sounds really nice right now. Or maybe going on an adventure to someplace new and exciting. Or even taking a volunteer trip! Anything other than freezing weather and midterms sounds nice honestly. Before you get too excited though and decide to take off already, here are a few things that you can't forget to pack in your suitcase!

1. Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!

Despite what many teenagers and college kids seem to think, no, you are not stronger than the sun. Sorry to break it to you, but it's the truth. You're not invincible, and no one looks good with lobster red skin. Now do what your momma told you.

2. An awesome music playlist

Whether it be a road trip or just hanging with friends, a solid playlist with mood-setting music is absolutely essential. Taking a beach trip? I recommend "Island in the Sun" by Weezer for track one!

3. Your favorite swimsuit

What better time to rock the body God gave ya than Spring Break! Also, cute pics of splashing in the waves in a stylish and fun bathing suit? Yes, please!

4. A cozy sweater or hoodie

This might seem kind of silly or unimportant at first, especially if you are planning on going someplace warm, but no matter where you are, it still can get cold at night! Besides, doesn't a bonfire on the beach in a cozy sweater while cuddling up with your friends under blankets sound fun?

5. A camera to capture the memories

It's a painful truth that we only stay young for so long. Life moves fast and changes rapidly, so why not capture the special moments and people in our life while we can? Even if it's just an $8.90 Kodak disposable camera from Walmart, bring something that you can take pictures with so you can document you and your friends having the times of your lives.

6. An instrument to play, a book to read, etc.

In case you ever get bored of just lying in the sand (ugh, what a hard life, am I right?) or have some spare time in between your adventures, it is always a good idea to bring with something to keep you entertained, whether it be a book, an instrument, magazines or a laptop to play Fortnite on. Especially if you own a guitar and know how to play it, not only will your friends love singing along to jams with you, but you also have a backup option of busking in case you ever run out of money! Sounds good, eh?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
