There is more to Spring Break than PCB.

There are so many other great places to visit than the beaches for a week. The beaches are always crowded and sunburns are a pain anyways. You don't have to go to the beach on Spring Break to enjoy your week off. Here are a few places to visit that doesn't get a pound of sand left in your car and memories you can't remember.

1. Disney World

Who would not want to visit the happiest place in the world? The food is wonderful there, favorite Disney characters are all there, and roller coasters to ride. There are so many options to do at Disney World. Plus, no one ever gets bored at Disney World.

2. Ski Resort

Go for the polar opposites of heat and the ocean and go to the mountains for some snow. A group of people could stay at a ski lodge, have the option of going skiing, snow boarding, or ice skating. Plus, a cup of hot chocolate in March or April is not so bad. Don't worry, the pictures are just as cute in the mountains as they are at the beach. On the positive side, you could skip the stress of getting into that bikini body.

3. Road Trip

Get a bunch of your best friends and hit the highway. Be adventurous and see the scenic highway. Enjoy the not knowing of where you are going and enjoy the ride, as they say. Do the unknown. Stop at that gross looking burger joint that probably has the best cheeseburgers and fries, plus grab a milkshake for the road.

4. Cruises

Cruises might be a bit of expensive but plan ahead and skip going to the bars a few nights and online shopping. The experience of the cruise will probably be better than any PCB concert with thousands of other people. Plus, there are several different places along the way on a cruise you get to visit. Also, I'm sure you'll see the ocean if that makes up for not going to the beach.

5. Be a town tourist

Act a tourist in your own town. Go do the things you would probably not do in your own town. If you live in Memphis, go visit Graceland. Go eat at the local burger joint, go bowling with friends, or see a movie you have been wanting to see. Spring Break does not always have to be the craziest experience of your life.

6. Nashville

There are so many things to do in Nashville. Dig a little deep into your unknown country roots. Go visit the country roots of famous country singers like the Country Music Hall of Fame. Try out the Blue Plate Cafe where famous singers were found. Visit their zoo and see the animals.

Spring Break does not have to be about soaking up in the sun. There are other options that can be just as much fun or even more.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
