Spotify is becoming one of the biggest music apps on the app
store but it's not just any old music app. It's better than Pandora because it functions as your own personal music library (with a premium package) and you can skip as many songs as you want. Honestly, in my opinion if you don’t purchase the premium package spotify offers
listeners, I wouldn't even download the app. Simply because you don't get the most out of it! Luckily for anyone currently in
school you can buy spotify premium for 4.99 a month, otherwise it's $9.99 (after your 30 day free trial period). Once I signed up for the premium package, and because I am terrible with technology I
was really happy to see that the process was simple. Basically you let Spotify know
which university you attend and what your student number is, and BAM you can
use the Spotify student premium package. What I really love about Spotify is
that you can create personalized playlists with as many songs as you can think
of. When you are in the mood for something else, Spotify has playlist categorized
based on either mood, genre or era of music.
Spotify Pros:
1. Encourages interaction, playlist creation and sharing.
Like I said earlier, the whole interface is very user friendly!
2. Loads of different kinds of music to discover, and it's all easy to find.
One song leads to another, to another, to another.
3. Play any song and you don't necessarily have to purchase anything!
Unless you plan to use Spotify regularly, and I do, you don't have to pay the monthly fee.
Spotify Cons:
1. Artists make next to nothing when their music is streamed.
If you wanting to support your favorite artists and pay them their just due for their talent, you'd be better off purchasing their album on Itunes or at Walmart.
2. You may find that according to Spotify, your favorite artists don't exist.
No Taylor Swift... like, what?
3. You can't share a Premium Spotify account
Unless you purchase the Family Plan for $14.99, someone has to log out otherwise it will boot you off the account.
Is it worth it? You decide!
