I don't usually seek out covers or remixes of songs that I like — if it ain't broke, don't fix it, amirite? However, I've happened upon a lot of new versions of the same old songs that I've been listening to for years. Here are a few of my personal favorites at the moment.

DISCLAIMER: There are only a few remixes on this list. This is mainly just a list of covers, but I couldn't call it "Spotify Covers To Listen To Right Now" in good conscience.

1. "The Gold (Ra Ra Riot Remix)" - Manchester Orchestra

I've liked Ra Ra Riot for a while now and I've dabbled in Manchester Orchestra's music. If you've heard the original song, it's good — don't get me wrong. But this remix is just... Listen to it.

2. "What's My Name? Recorded at Spotify Studios NYC" - Timeflies

Rihanna is a gift from God. You know it, I know it, we all know it. Timeflies did a REALLY good job improving upon perfection (AKA the original song). Give this one a chance. It's not that good at first, but it gets good — I promise.

3. "Thunder / Young Dumb & Broke (with Khalid) [Medley]" - Imagine Dragons, Khalid

I really didn't like "Thunder" at first. I found it really repetitive and I just wasn't about it. That made me really sad because I love Imagine Dragons otherwise. When I stumbled upon this mashup (remix?) of Khalid's "Young Dumb & Broke" along with "Thunder", I knew it was a winner.

4. "La La Latch" - Pentatonix

Unpopular opinion: I'm not a huge Pentatonix fan. But never fear, general population — I put multiple Pentatonix covers (remixes? mashups?) in this playlist. Back to this one, though. It's a mashup of "Latch" by Disclosure and Sam Smith along with his collaboration with Naughty Boy, "La La La". The first time I ever heard this mashup, I was at a White Panda concert, and I searched for YEARS (no exaggeration) to find their version. I finally found it on Youtube awhile later (click that link — you'll thank me later) and then found this gem not too long ago. I guess this is a two-in-one. What a time to be alive, guys.

5. "You Haunt Me - Amtrac Remix" - Sir Sly

I loved "You Haunt Me" the first time I heard it, but this remix is so much easier to listen to (if that makes any sense at all). It's a million times more ethereal and chill.

6. "White Winter Hymnal" - Pentatonix

I told you there'd be more Pentatonix to come. The original version of this song by Fleet Foxes is really good, but it's not necessarily general-population-friendly. Pentatonix fixed that.

7. "Love Lockdown" - Glass Animals

The first time I heard this cover, I was at a Glass Animals show. I was very much not expecting it but I'm here for it. If you don't know the original (...how?), check it out here.

8. "Broccoli - Recorded at Spotify Studios NYC" - Cheat Codes

This one is NOWHERE TO BE FOUND on Youtube, so I tracked it down. I'm really into this cover-crossover genre (if you couldn't tell already). The original version of this is good, but I'm really digging the fact that my favorite artists are covering more popular songs.

9. "Hey Ya" - DENM

This is a really low-key version of everyone's favorite hit by Outkast. Notice that there's no exclamation point in DENM's title — like I said, it's low-key.

10. "Electric Feel (triple j Like A Version)" - Tash Sultana

Tash Sultana is a goddess. It's only natural that she's covered one of the most well-known songs by MGMT. Give this one a chance. I really couldn't get into it at first, but once I got into the groove, I was vibin'.

11. "Hit 'Em Up Style" - Carolina Chocolate Drops

All my friends from Music History are going to lose their minds but this is such a good cover. For context: The first time I was exposed to this, it was for a Music History class that I was taking. I'm really into this genre crossover, too. Here's the original song.

So there you have it! These are some highlights of the best covers and remixes on Spotify right now. Go here to listen to these and a few extras that I've put together on a playlist for your listening pleasure.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
