What My Sports Injury Taught Me as a Person

What's up everyone?

I have been dealing with an injury from December 2015 up to current day. I have endured several doctors appointments that generated very little movement toward a fix as well as four MRI's, an ultrasound and experimental PRP injection (don't know google it; it sucks). The time this article was posted I awake a consult with a surgeon that might to fix it. Sounds like I am giving up hope. Well I'm not. I'm looking to turn my hope into something fresh without giving up my love for this sport.

Have Your Voice Heard: Become an Odyssey Creator

If you don't know, I am currently a player for the SOU men's soccer team. I was the captain of the team it's inaugural season, and man was it a season. I discovered leadership capabilities I didn't know I had. That's probably the biggest take away from this injury. With out this injury I wouldn't have taken the time to understand this about myself. I took away what it means to persevere and not give up.Which can sound harder than it actually does. If you have to ever endure pain you would know what I am talking about. Not physical pain, I'm implying a deep emotional tear at the heart. It makes you question everything leading up to that point. That type of pain. In the midst of all that I also experienced joy, happiness, and love. The love for life and people. How to accept situations and utilize them to fuel a different life campaign. I can also come out of this with the tools to empathize. Pronouns and all. Whatever our battle is we have it. You do, the person sitting next to you does, as well as the person that may have popped into your head while reading this. I also believe that as we go through our days we have a little bit better understanding of who we are and the type of person we seek to be. That's why everyday I try to be a better version of myself and I understand that you're trying to be the best version of yourself. Whatever that may be.

I hope this inspired a few people. If it did give it a share. Worst they do is not read it.

Also, the Men's SOU soccer program is coming out with a documentary created by the students. Here's a shot:

The entire team is putting in their sweat and blood for this spring season. We will see where it takes us.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
