SpongeBob's Guide To Procrastinating On Your Research Paper

SpongeBob's Guide To Procrastinating On Your Research Paper

It is that time in the semester that research papers are being assigned and the true procrastination begins. Students find a million things to do instead of their research paper to help feed into their denial. So, in case you are having trouble finding activities, here are thirteen things to do instead of writing that research paper.

1. Watch Netflix

Because nothing says procrastination like binge watching SpongeBob for 12 hours (or more).

2. Clean Your Room

Even though no one really likes cleaning their room, it always seems like cleaning is a better option.

3. Learn an Instrument

Let's be honest, learning an instrument is ten times easier than writing your research paper. I mean you have to find a topic, find sources, make an outline...

4. Have a Dance Party

Because nothing is better than a dance party!

5. Take a Nap

If you are asleep, then you don't have to think about your paper. Unless you dream about it, then I don't know how to help you.

6. Make a To-Do List

Make a list of everything else you could be doing instead of the research paper, and then when you complete all of those: make another list.

7. Eat a Snack

Who doesn't like a good snack (or meal) break?

8. Play With Your Pet

If you don't have a pet, go play with a friend's pet, or even a stranger's.

9. Go Get Coffee

Go get some coffee and contemplate your entire life. For example, is college really worth it?

10. Go to Target

In a nut-shell, go there looking for a toothbrush and come back home with curtains, marshmallows, decorative pillows, a hat you will never wear, and dog food for a dog that you do not own. Because lets be honest, no one goes to target and only comes back with what is on their list.

11. Workout

Release all of your anger about this research paper, while also being productive!

12. Write an Odyssey Article

This isn't from experience or anything. I totally DO NOT have a research paper to work on right now...

13. Cry

Because even after all of this and all of the denial, you still have a research paper to write that is at least 20% of your grade.
