What Spongebob Can Teach Us About Working A Part-Time Job

If there is one thing that the most of us have experienced, that is, having a part-time job we disliked...or hated.

I never knew someone could love their part-time job so much until I watched SpongeBob SquarePants. As a young kid, I would watch SpongeBob's loyalty to the Krusty Krab only increase with each episode, making me wonder if being in the workforce was actually that great. Of course, SpongeBob is make believe and well, reality is reality.

SpongeBob can teach us a few things though. One of those being, what makes an employer love his employees! Most of these are unrealistic and exaggerated, especially because we all know SpongeBob would work at the Krusty Krab for free, and as people who need to make a living and pay bills, we wouldn't be able to do that. But, there are other characteristics that SpongeBob has that most of us should consider while we bust our butts for somebody else's company.

1. Positivity is key

When have we ever seen an episode where Spongebob was a total debbie downer about his job? Answer: Never. Working a part-time job, especially one that is temporary, a positive attitude needs to be kept in order to survive the day. We need to remind ourselves that this is only temporary and that we will be moving forward sooner or later. Though for SpongeBob, we know the Krusty Krab is his forever, he can still motivate us to feel positive about not only our job, but about life.

2. Going above and beyond

Spongebob goes above and beyond for Mr. Krabs, his manager, but mostly because of his love of the Krusty Krab, and that's what makes him a stellar employee. SpongeBob not only makes each krabby patty with love, but he also cares a lot about his customers. Though SpongeBob may deal with people who could care less about him, he still makes each meal with the same effort as he did with the previous meal.

3. Getting along with co-workers

We may not like all of our co-workers or want to deal with them, but if we are going to be working somewhere for a while, we must compromise to get along with them. In this case, SpongeBob only has one other co-worker, Squidward. Unlike SpongeBob, Squidward hates his job and pretty much everything else in his life. He is always unhappy and seeing SpongeBob's happiness shatter to pieces seems to cheer him up. We will always have to deal with these types of co-workers and even people in general, but like SpongeBob, all we can do is make sure we don't let them ruin our day and not let their bad vibes affect us. Instead, we should try to send over our good vibes!!!

There are many more life lessons we can learn from SpongeBob, but these will do for now for those in a part-time workforce situation!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
