We all know it. We all have had our phase in middle and elementary school singing this song, but it honestly teaches an important lesson about friendship. The whimsical and genius of the song is masked by the childish nature of the show, but a lot of people do not realize how important it is to let go of stress and have a good time with friends. College is an important time in one's life, but it's important not to get carried away with schoolwork and overload yourself. Grab a buddy and go do something.
2. "You'll never get what you want if you always let people step all over you." - Plankton
As a freshman, it's your first day on campus and you don't want to step on people's toes. We get it. However, college is the best time in a person's life to gain a backbone and fight for what you believe in. It's the time to gain a voice and stand proud for what you know. I used to be meek an timid, but in all honesty, it got me nowhere, only letting people walk all over me. Stand up for yourself! :)
3. "No one can change a person, but a person can be a reason someone changes." -Spongebob
It's another important quote. A lot of times, we try to change people, but in a sense, that shouldn't be the goal. Many times in relationships people attempt to change the other, but it never works out. Be the person you are meant to be, and change may come naturally in the other person, but it should never be forced.
4. "Home is where you're surrounded by other critters who care about you." - Sandy
I cannot stress how much this one means to me. For some college kids, moving in can be difficult and stressful. Learning to adapt into a new environment with a new social scene can be hard on some people, and I was incredibly shocked to notice how many people were going home on weekends. Not a normal amount, but rather excessively. Some people never let anyone inside their personal bubble or maybe are too shy to make a first step at getting to know someone. But the truth is, you never know if that stranger could end up your best friend, so take a little time and get to know some more people! Home can be anywhere, if the right people are involved in your life.
5. "You will never know the true value of moment until it becomes a memory." -Spongebob
Pretty legit, but the point here is to enjoy life to the fullest. Live in the moment, because thinking back to that moment is never the same as actually living it. We should enjoy life for every single moment of every second we breathe another breath of fresh air.
And the most important thing of course, is to always smile, be happy, and live your life regardless of what others say.
