Spoken Word: Realization Of Reality

Do not look at the bird and wonder why you do not fly. Look at the bird and wonder how you'll fly that high.

Spoken Word: Realization Of Reality

Life is not a string of chances, but rather a domino effect. Everything happens for a reason, and if you're a skeptic, I suggest you reserve judgment.

Our actions speak louder than our voices ever could, and ever will. So next time you're wondering about the world, think about this:

Don't be so judgmental about the world when you refuse to participate in its change. Your life's a book, it's your choice that lies on the next page. Your words are written in ink, so always do and say everything with care. A harsh word could harm anything from a heart to a hair. But don't take my word for it, no. Take the words that spew from a melancholy man who just wants one more drink to drown his sorrows. Take the crows feet that gather at the side of a woman's eyes, that have long lost their luster.

Life is a song that all too soon ends, and it's your job to make the rhythm, the words, and the melody. It's up to you whether you lead a life of imprisonment, or if you set yourself free. You'll want to choose the easy path, because it requires the least amount of work but please understand this: the man who walked a thousand miles took one step to start.

When the wolf breathes down your neck, be the Red Riding Hood that gobbles him whole. Be the fire that is aflame in your heart and soul. Transition from procrastination to reactiveness. Do not look at the bird and wonder why you do not fly. Look at the bird and wonder how you'll fly that high.

Each heartbeat that passes leads closer to a tragedy, an epiphany, and a moment of true clarity. Let wonders never cease, because once they stop, so does everything else.

I believe Robert Frost was correct when he said, "In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life. It goes on."

Strife will hit you and it will hit you hard. That is when you cock your head and stay resilient against all odds. If you have to fight until your chest hurts from screaming the truth, then you will have no better scars than the ones on your lungs.

Life is nothing but a chain reaction of events caused by everyone that lives and breathes. It's a fact, whether you think it's crap or you believe. Your goal shouldn't be to live forever, your goal should be that your actions here on earth will create something that will last forever.

So this is all to the bullies out there who believe that words hurt no worse than a knife. This is to the daughters and sons who will never live up to their parents demands. This is to my fellow starving artists, painting on a canvas or bleeding through an ink pen onto parchment. This is to the politicians who believe that the country is a company that can be controlled. This is to the Oh Holier Than Though person who spends their Saturday nights at the strip club, and Sunday mornings clutching the Bible in the church pew.

Be humble, and stay humble. Understand that life is a blink of an eye and you mustn't waste it on trivial things like anger, sadness and misfortune. You're breathing another day on this rotating earth, so be appreciative of it. You don't know the minute it ends, and the most tragic thing you'll ever feel is when it's all said and done, you'll start off by saying, "If only I had.."

I hope this opened at least one person's eyes and awakened realization. The truth was simply too rich to not be shared, so here it is. Call it preaching or poetry, whatever helps you sleep at night. But if you're ever in darkness, I hope you read this and let it be your light.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
